Photos from Election Night, 2009

Newly-elected Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell and family at the podium Nov. 3, 2009, in Richmond, Virginia.
Possibly the unsung hero of the night, Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, who handily won re-election. Bolling and McDonnell decided early on not to fight over the gubernatorial nomination, which allowed them to campaign on a unified ticket, while the Democrats spent a lot of time and money in a nomination fight.
Newly-elected Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli and Mrs. Cuccinelli. Cuccinelli, like McDonnell and Bolling, won by a wide margin.

Businesswoman and Democrat Sheila Johnson waves to the crowd. During this campaign she was a strong supporter of Bob McDonnell, who declared her to be “my favorite Democrat.”

Nice pictures, Jane! I wish I could have been there to celebrate with everyone!
Fantastic photos, Jane … I’ve linked. No disrespect to our candidates … but I especially like the photo of the mounted patrol of the Richmond Police Department. As a little girl, my nursery school (they call it “daycare” these days) was next to MCV a few blocks away from where the photo was taken … and I absolutely adored seeing those police officers on horses.
I saw them last night as I left the Marriott … was driving and could not get a photo … but was thrilled that they were on patrol just as they’ve been for over a hundred years. Thanks for the memories….
unbelievably great photo’s
Jane –
You outdid yourself again! Fantastic photos!
Jim
Thanks, all. Yes, I hate to say it, but the horses + sat trucks scene was the most visually striking thing all night.
The start of the inbreds running the looney house. Cuckoo-nelli and Bobbie have 12 children between the two of them … don’t they have TV?
All that means Krisjan is that they’ve had sex at least 12 more times than you have.
