Voter Turnout Steady in Fairfax County
By | Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009 | Politics

Upon arriving at the Centreville precinct this morning in Fairfax County, there was a noticeable flow of people going into vote at 10 a.m. I was among those voting, and there seemed to be a lot of voters supporting Bob McDonnell, Bill Bolling, and Ken Cuccinelli. After leaving the polls, I asked the worker how many people had been in voting. The worker indicated that this has been one of the larger statewide voting efforts that he had ever witnessed for a Governor’s race.

After voting, I helped out the Republicans at the precinct handing out sample ballots. Again, I noticed the same trend with people refusing the Democrat sample ballot for the Republican one. One guy told me that he had always voted Democrat, but today would be his first time voting a straight Republican ticket. The economy was his pet peeve, and he did not think that the Democratic ticket had any concrete plans for addressing the budget issues.

If there is already this type of response, the Democrats are in for a big disappointment tonight.

If you have to use a sample ballot, you probably shouldn’t be voting. End of story. I like them just as a memento of the election, but I don’t base any % of my vote on it.

I was at the same Centreville precinct polling place around 10 am and the reason people were getting GOP sample ballots is because there was no Democrat to hand out Democratic sample ballots at that time. Not exactly a GOP landslide there…Krystle needs to stop adding that wacky tobaccky in her recipes to stop the delusions. Even GOP Bloggers should be at least mildly accurate with the facts.

The campaign worker she spoke to about the big GOP trend at Centreville precinct was a FCRC election coordinator–not exactly an impartial observer. For what its worth, there was a trickle of people coming to vote at that time including myself who voted Democrat. I saw lots of GOP candidate signs but no indication of lines of wildly enthusiastic GOP converts. In fact, there were no lines as the polls were pretty empty at that time of day.

Its too early for the GOP to claim that Centreville is now a Red Precinct…We have only begun to fight….!
