Making Sense Of The Latest Dollars In The Race For Governor
By Jason Kenney | Tuesday, October 27th, 2009 | PoliticsRepublican nominee Bob McDonnell out raised Democrat Creigh Deeds 4 to 3 in the first three weeks of October.
Most of McDonnell’s $4,019,760 was thanks in a large part to in-kind contributions from the US Chamber of Commerce of nearly $1 million and RPV.
Of McDonnell’s $1.8 million cash raised from 4171 donations, no contributions were greater than $50,000 for an average contribution of $432.
Deeds, on the other hand, saw $1.735 million from the DNC and another $100k from the American Federation of Teachers. So, in essence, Creigh Deeds raised just over $900,000 in three weeks from 2377 individual contributions under $100k for an average contribution around $390.
Dollar to dollar, Bob McDonnell out raised Creigh Deeds nearly 2-1 in the last three weeks.
That’s one heck of an enthusiasm gap.

It will be interesting to watch where the money goes after the election. The COC (Chamber of Commerce) might have decided to throw in with McDonnell due to opposition to Card Check or something. But where is the money going to go once the the election is decided?
Once the election gets done with I am curious on just where we are going to go on the transportation issue. If the COC opposes the trucking industry, this could get interesting. However, it is not too far fetched to find agreement between the trucking industry and the COC. Odd man out is McDonnell. Deeds was a better starting point.
