Krystal Ball makes a splash
By | Monday, October 19th, 2009 | Politics

Krystal Ball, Democratic candidate for the 1st District congressional nomination, is making some noise and is rightfully crowing about it.

Here’s what Candidate Ball has to say about her latest efforts:

  • I received the endorsement of Congressman Bob Filner, Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. This is especially important to me because helping veterans is one of the main reasons I decided to run in the first place.
  • I received the endorsement of the Women’s Campaign Forum. I admire the work of this organization to promote women in politics and the strength of their leader, Sam Bennett.
  • We had over 400 people attend our Avenue Q fundraiser last week in New York City and raised just over $25,000 after expenses.
  • We raised $201,265 for the quarter, more than the Republican incumbent and more than our Democratic primary challenger.
  • We’ve raised $303,746 to date from 314 supporters. Thank you to all of you, I am so grateful and honored by your support.
  • I’m appearing on The Lou Dobbs Show, a nationally syndicated radio show hosted by Lou Dobbs at 3:35 PM EDT on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. Wish me luck!

Of course, after Lou Dobbs, it’s all down-hill from there. Hopefully she’ll be willing to come on VPOD.

Is it just me, though, but are these federal races beginning to encroach on the state campaigns? Would this money that she raised have better served Deeds, Wagner, or Shannon? And what is Candidate Ball doing to help the statewide ticket?

Democrats – please please please nominate Mrs. Ball. I absolutely love her creepy campaign videos and the more we see them the better. I’m a long ways away from her neck of the woods but I’ll be watching this one closely.

On a less sarcastic note, her fundraising is impressive and 400 people at a fundraiser in NYC is nothing to laugh at if true.

Still, to me, it’s all about her creepy videos.

I too am watching the race – she may be outraising the Republican incumbent at the moment (most republicans are sending their money to the state ticket right now), but she is not going to out work him (I know this from experience). In addition to which 400 people in NY is nice, but that doesn’t mean they can vote for her, and on election day that is what counts.

Getting 400 people to show up for puppet porn, that is quite an accomplishment.

    Ouch. Funny…but ouch nonetheless.

She’s a breath of fresh air.

Take it to those Virginia rednecks!
