McDonnell by 12; GOP rolling
By JR Hoeft | Friday, September 4th, 2009 | PoliticsSurvey USA shows little impact of “McDonnell’s Macaca” in a poll they conducted this week (thesis story began Monday and yielded 34 stories from WaPO in 5 days).
McDonnell is up by twelve and the rest of the ticket is in double digits too (Bolling by 10, Cuccinelli by 13).
Looks like the left wing will have to dream up another attack besides phantom confederate flags and twenty-year-old papers.
What’s next? Perhaps a policy?
More from Shaun Kenney:
This has got to be embarassing for the Washington Post. Just when you think something might come around to sell some newsprint, the numbers simply don’t bear it out. As for the social media buzz within the Democratic blogosphere, the Republican social media network simply closed ranks and shrugged.
From D.J. McGuire:
Whoops! Sorry Creigh. I guess voters figured out it hasn’t been 1989 in twenty years.
From Lynn Mitchell:
Liberals will have to go back to the Democrat play book because it looks like this one isn’t going to take.
From Jim Riley:
In poll after poll after poll, it seems that Deeds cannot break above the 42% ceiling. While I fully expect him to do better than that on Election Day, it is interesting just how many times that number has come up for him in the polls to date.
From Mike at Write Side:
It’s clear the orchestrated smear campaign against Bob McDonnell is not working.
From Chris at Mason Conservative:
The fact that Cuccinelli is above 50% in every part of the state is stunning, we haven’t seen this one-sided an ass-kicking since Jerry Kilgore dismantled Donald McEachin.
And closing it out, at TC:
…this strategy is never going to put Deeds over 50%

This is actually an increase from other polls which showed his lead at 7-9%. Also with Cuccinelli leading by 13, it shows that voters are more socially conservative and were not particularly shocked when hearing about this thesis. If anything, the thesis issue has likely pushed some independents toward McDonnell’s camp.
