Harvey Bryant – campaigning on issues
By | Thursday, September 3rd, 2009 | Catch-All

It’s becoming a theme this year as it has in years past. Republicans across Virginia are campaigning on issues and qualifications. While others do nothing but throw mud, attacks, college research papers, and virtually anything but actually talking about what you’d do in the job, Republicans are campaigning with respect to voters and their decision they will make in November.

Harvey Bryant, with 26 years of prosecution experience, is working for re-election to Virginia Beach’s Commonwealth’s Attorney and campaigning on some very positive policies.

1. No plea deals for drug dealers or on crimes with firearms
2. Aggressive, innovated prosecutions
3. Support for victims and their families
4. Consumer protection

Bryant’s record is one that the Republican Party should be applauding. Tough on crime, tough on criminals, empathy for victims, and protection of the innocent.

If you want candidates more interested in helping criminals, look at another party.

About the author

Brian Kirwin

The right wants to jeer him. The left wants to censor him. Moderates usually want both. Brian Kirwin is a political consultant and public relations strategist in Virginia Beach with a lightning-rod flair. Brian also serves on the VB Arts & Humanities Commission and frequently appears on Hampton Roads theatrical stages, if only to prove that all actors aren’t liberals. Kirwin’s columns stir up debate and hit the political scene with no punches pulled.

    Mr. Bryant,
On September 15, 2009 you sought to confront me on certain campaign issues. I did not feel that the Election Board office was the appropriate venue. I asked if you wanted to walk outside to have a private conversation. That is when you challenged me to a public discussion. I asked do you want a debate? You said yes, schedule it with my office.

You have not responded to my campaign manager’s attempts to schedule the debate.

Are you a man of your word? Or was your challenge merely perfunctory and for show in front of a crowded office?

    Sincerely,
    Mark C. Hardman
    Candidate for Commonwealth’s Attorney
