McDonnell’s college paper has problems
By Brian Kirwin | Sunday, August 30th, 2009 | PoliticsThe most significant problem of the Democrats and the Washington Post (and my local Virginian-Pilot who simultaneously ran the Post’s drivel on the front page) is they didn’t attack McDonnell for his research skills.
I don’t believe McDonnell, when referencing feminism in a paper he wrote for school, ever researched or quoted current Senator Jim Webb, who said women were “poisoning” combat training by being there. Definitely a problem of insufficient research there, Bob. Gotta dock ya some points.
So now the religious bigotry of a desperate Democrat Party tries to slam McDonnell as an “evangelical” – which must be news to McDonnell, who is Catholic. Facts don’t mean much to a Democrat Party with leaders like Howard Dean, who calls religious voters “guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks.”
Remember every Democrat who defended Webb’s statements? They’re hoping you don’t.

Why is it 4 years ago, Tim Kaine’s liberal years of being an anit-death penalty activist, anti-gun zealot and ardent liberal didn’t matter because he “was talking about the future”?
What a bunch of hypocrites. I guess social issues are only “wedge and divisive” when the GOP pushes them.
Lol
Diversion FAIL
The bigger concern I have is that this may mean that Bob McDonnell doesn’t win by 60%+. The way the Deeds campaign is going I think they’ll declare anything less than a 55%+ showing by McDonnell as a “victory” for the Democratic Party in Virginia.
Brian,
While I know I am probably pushing the limits on tolerance of my posts from J.R. I want to provide an interesting story on how I got my family to vote for Jim Webb.
I promise J.R. that I am going away. Tomorrow I going to finally go back on the road.
The feminists in my family were concerned that Jim Webb was a bigot when it came to the feminism issue. I assured them that given the two choices they were offered, Jim Webb would be a Democrat and willing to talk to feminists about their issues. George Allen supported the Nuclear Option.
I wish to point out that I am a strong supporter of Creigh Deeds. If the Democrats had not nominated such an acceptably moderate candidate (in my opinion) I might have ended up voting for McDonnell.
I have been winning support for Creigh Deeds within my family amongst the feminists by pointing towards the differences between the histories of the candidates on feminine issues.
I will acknowledge that I have some personal self interest in seeing Creigh Deeds getting elected (for pro-business reasons) and I can not guarantee that Deeds will get the Virginia Legislature to approve fuel taxes instead of toll roads. But at least I know that historically Deeds supported increased fuel taxes (which the majority of truckers favor) instead of toll roads.
Trucking groups and organizations that generally, might I even say almost overwhelmingly, tend to favor Republican viewpoints also by about just as overwhelming a majority prefer increased fuel taxes over tolls.
WE ARE THE EXPERTS when it comes to business related highway transportation. WE ARE NOT IN FAVOR of anything that will shoot the business commerce we are dependent on in the foot.
With an extreme level of confidence I can say that the trucking industry favors increased fuel taxes are preferable to tolls. If you disagree (like McDonnell does) then it is only because you do not possess the experience that qualifies you to claim to be an expert.

David, Deeds wants to raise fuel taxes? Do you lefties have some secret correspondence going the rest of us can’t see? All the Deeds ads say he wants to cut taxes. Is he lying?
Of course, Deeds voted in 2007 for tolls on Hampton Roads highways, but I’m sure you must’ve missed that.
Darrell, you can cut and paste. Congratulations!
J.R. please forgive me for responding.
Brian,
It is not like McDonnell does not want to increase revenue for transportation. Beyond how he might raid the General Revenue fund what the trucking industry is concerned about how he will go about raising the additional revenue from the transportation industry. As a group, I think I can speak that we stand against him on this issue. He wants to rely on toll roads instead of increasing the fuel tax. I can not speak that the majority will still vote against him.
Actually McDonnell himself points to the weaknesses in our industry’s arguments far better then you do. However once you educate yourself on his arguments, I am ready to counter. But first you must educate yourself. Once you put forth his arguments, I am ready to counter them.
“Darrell, you can cut and paste. Congratulations!”
It’s called a link. In this case it is a link to an article that describes many voters feelings about this campaign. The AFP boys got in a tizzy over Hamilton and wanted to force him out of the party. AFP boys want Crabill to step aside as well. They went so far as to remove their candidate information from the RPV website, then put it back when they figured out that all those McD signs were going in the trash along with their chances of carrying those districts.
There’s a cut and paste campaign going on alright, as former supporters cut their votes for candidates of a party owned and controlled by a few connected insiders. If there are any more heavy handed actions by the RPV, the pollsters may be surprised by the pasting McD takes in November.
Little David, ah yes. The overwhelming majority disagree with you about having their taxes raised because they aren’t as “educated” as you.
How’s the view from the tower of ivory?
