Del. Paula Miller “political back scratching”
By Brian Kirwin | Friday, August 28th, 2009 | PoliticsCriticisms aplenty are mounting for the new job of Del. Paula Miller.
“And her daughter is now old enough to drive herself to her Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School in Virginia Beach, Miller said.” Pilot
Nevermind a hiring freeze that the rest of Norfolk is operating under, nevermind that the “job opening” wasn’t advertised and no one else had the chance to interview, or even apply. Norfolk Sheriff McCabe handpicked Miller for a communications job apparently since Miller didn’t need to chauffeur her daughter to her Beach private school anymore.
The Virginian-Pilot takes issue, here, since a lawyer was let go from the same office for lack of work to do, but they found the money to hire yet another communications specialist.
Norfolk Councilman Paul Riddick doesn’t like the insider network either and said so.
I wonder if anyone’s thinking of FOIAs for emails for that circle of friends…

I believe it’s a violation of state law and should be investigated, if so both McCabe should resign as sherrif and Paula Miller should resign both from her new job and from the House of Delegates. This is nothing but nepotism, and sickly shown cronyism. Norfolk’s deputies are the lowest paid in the state and some of the hardest working the money exspensed for her unneeded position could be used to give raises to those hard working deputies (why do we need 2 people doing the same job anyways???) .
You sound jealous that you didn’t get the job! When McCabe was a republican (lets see, how long ago was that?) he might have hired you and lifted you from your self imposed, self proclaimed “world shaker”, “Political consultant” merry-go round. No more leaving campaigns early to head over to “auditions” for theatre parts you’ll never realize! Nope, stuck here in blogger land, hurling rocks at people who have jobs, with benefits and who have done what you’ve never achieved, success.
