Source: Vick to sign with Philadelphia Eagles, team denies
By Brian Kirwin | Thursday, August 13th, 2009 | Catch-AllNFL rumors and local folks are watching the Michael Vick story, and whether he’ll be signed by an NFL team.
Minnesota Vikings, Washington Redskins and St. Louis Rams are all reportedly looking at it, but a reliable source tells me that the Philadelphia Eagles, on the heels of the day-to-day knee injury to backup QB Kevin Kolb, are looking to sign Vick, and it will happen quickly.
Former Colts coach Tony Dungy says the list of teams goes beyond what people have been talking about, and he expects the signing to happen this week. That leaves the door of possibilities open.
I contacted the Eagles’ front office, and they said rumors about Vick and the Eagles “are false.”
We’ll all know by tomorrow I guess.
UPDATE Looks like I had it right. Story broken here on Bearing Drift, and ESPN has the details

I AM TOTALLY APPALLED THAT YOU HAVE SIGNED VICK. HE DID NOT SERVE ENOUGH TIME FOR WHAT HE DID. HE HAS NO BUSINESS BEING A “ROLE” MODEL FOR YOUTH OF AMERICA. HE DOES NOT DESERVE TO RETURN TO THE GLORY HE LIVED BEFORE HE FOUGHT AND KILLED THE DOGS AS HE DID. SHAME ON YOU FOR BEING MORE CONCERNED WITH WINNING AND THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR…MAY YOU LOSE AND GO STINKING BROKE…YOU DESERVE IT……Parents do not want to see their kids worshiping him after what he did to those poor dogs, yes i believe in paying for your crime and returning to life, but not as an idol figure……………….you stink
Are you kidding me?????? I will never watch your team again. I am so angry I can’t even write what I want to say.
Just found out the Eagles signed Michael Vick. Not only have I lost all respect for the Eagles organization, but I can only hope that other players are as infuriated as I am and that they do to him what he did to those poor, innocent puppies. Tear him from limb to limb alive!!
Eagles signed him…
Go Redskins!
It would have been funnier if Vick had signed with the Cleveland Browns.
Ah…never question my sources, I say!
How did you know before ESPN had it??
The only sense it makes is Donovan McNabb’s chronic injury problems. However, in the salary cap era, there were smarter things the Eagles could have done with the money than sign Vick.
Those ladies up top need to chill out…wow… you rarely see that passion about politics…wait a second
Go Redskins!
Ken, I had the info around 3 pm, but I couldn’t get anyone official to confirm it, even on background. I posted at 3:14
Looks like my single source heard the right thing. Vick was in Philly this week, and apparently his travel was noticed.
nice catch, Brian
Go Steelers! If only Vick would have went to the Browns, I could imagine the Steeler Nation chants now!
So you scooped Sal PalAntonio and Chris Mortenson. Wow. You are the man!
It’s not just the ladies, a long time fan NO MORE….. Vick electrocuted dogs with jumper cables, held their heads under water to drown them and at his press conference today he said he should be forgiven and admired because he ‘learned in prison that his actions were “pointless activity”. What???? Torture and mutilation of helpless animals is simply “pointless”? That’s what he learned. My kid will never watch him, he is appalling and so is Jeff Lurie and the morons who hired him back.. The answer why is money – they don;t care about anything else and they have lost me, my family and thousands of other fans. Vick is no role model and neither are the Eagles.
I don’t want to defend what he did, it was wrong and cruel. I can’t help but feel frustrated with the fact that crimes against actual people are sometimes punished less severely and hated less.
I guess what those PETA members did by euthanizing hundreds of animals and just dumping them in somebody’s private dumpster in North Carolina was a better and a finer example. Or the people throwing blood on people wearing fur or cutting refrigeration lines at Central Meats. Yea, these people have credibility.
I’m betting the first person to really lay Vick out on the turf, stops to make a deliberate move to help him back up and pat him on the back.
I am apalled that the Eagles would sign a dog killer to thier team. They don’t seem to care about thier image. As a dog lover I am never supporting your team. I hope every game has protesters. Vick claims he is remorefull and should be forgiven. Yeh right, he is only remorsefull about being caught. Anyone who says well they were just dogs should be tortured like Vick did the animals and see if they feel pain. I am really pissed off at the Eagles and know many more are too. Vick crawl back under the rock you came from and stay.
