Mason Conservative: Fake issues are all the Democrats have
By | Tuesday, August 4th, 2009 | Politics

Mason Conservative sums up the current state of the Democratic campaign with one word: weak.

“[T]here are issues both real and imagined for Creigh Deeds, and he’s trying to weave them together to define Republicans as a bunch of fringe haters who don’t believe the President is a US citizen while embracing a rural “aw-shucks” persona without accepting any responsibility about the condition of the region of the state he has represented for 18 years. My advice to Republicans is…keep hammering the kitchen table issues that we have been about spending, transportation, and the failures of the Democratic reign of Tim Kaine, and the outrageous spending and encroachment of personal freedom of the national Democrat Congress and the President.”

It’s a great post by Chris and well worth the read.

It should also serve as a wake-up call for Republicans to not be goaded into fake issues and to not allow Democrats to get away from their record: Deeds representing a region for 18 years that continues to suffer economically – doing little other than offering up higher taxes, Wagner, as Secretary of Finance, over-projecting and under-delivering on state revenues, and Shannon, an inexperienced prosecutor, who has continued to run further and further to the left on issues since being elected as a delegate.

He also reminded us that Jerry Kilgore led in the summer of 2005 (just like Bob McDonnell is this year), yet Tim Kaine was elected. So it is important for the GOP to not rest and assume victory.

Republicans themselves have proven very adept at defining Republicans as a bunch of fringe haters, and I dont mean people who hate the fringe. But i digress.

If youre gunna write about fake issues you gotta write about the GOOPer lobbying firm in DC that sent forged ‘climate change’ letters to Dem CongressCritters (yeah, Perriello got one!) on behalf of the coal industry that were made to look like letters from the NAACP and hispanic groups. That “my friends” is a good story.
