NC shows VA what Democrats do
By | Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009 | Policy, Politics

Want to know what a Democrat Governor with a Democrat House and Senate can do?

Look at our neighbors to the South, North Carolina, whose Democrats run the entire legislature and the Governor’s Mansion.

They’ve just agreed to raise the sales tax for everyone to 7.75% and raise state income taxes 2% from 7 to 9 on some corporate and individual filers.

Thinking about sending Creigh Deeds and Democrat delegates to Richmond? This is what you’ll get.

About the author

Brian Kirwin

The right wants to jeer him. The left wants to censor him. Moderates usually want both. Brian Kirwin is a political consultant and public relations strategist in Virginia Beach with a lightning-rod flair. Brian also serves on the VB Arts & Humanities Commission and frequently appears on Hampton Roads theatrical stages, if only to prove that all actors aren’t liberals. Kirwin’s columns stir up debate and hit the political scene with no punches pulled.

Well we’ve already seen what the repubs do when in charge: many trillions in deficits, an imperial presidency, trampling on the Constitution, wiretapping Americans, a moronic foreign policy, a war of choice, an idiot running that war for too long…

    Is there a third option?

  2. Brian Kirwin July 22, 2009 21:00 pm

For you, Mark, there’s never even a second option.

For a guy who would prefer a one-party state, you’re one to talk.

That said, you’re right. I’m proud of my vote for H.W. Bush – in the face of my college friends who all voted for Clinton; but after seeing how Clinton worked to balance our budget and reduce the deficit, and then witnessing what W, whom I made the mistake of voting for, did to our budget deficit and more importantly, our Constitution, it’ll be a long time before I vote for the GOP again.

    it could be worse, Brian.

You could be in Michigan where you have the highest unemployment rate in the country and have the state Democratic party chair calling for nearly a 25% increase in the minimum wage to $10 and mandating that all employers provide healthcare coverage.

With all this talk of the Apollo landing this week, I can only think Democrats want to send all the jobs there.

    Mark, as usual, you lie.

    I would not prefer a one-party state.

That’s the difference between me and you. To debate me, you have to lie about me. All I have to do to debate you is tell the truth.

JR, all we need to do is show what Democrats do when they have absolute power to know what they’ll do here if they ever get it. Great point!

BK – you should be ashamed of yourself, you always resort to the negative personal attack. You never use intellect, you never use logic, you just attack. You simply aren’t worth it.

Please, in the future, if you see Jim and I engage in a discussion, you are welcome to read and enjoy, put you are definitely not invited to join in.

Watch out Mark! He’ll make a parody song about you…

  9. Brian Kirwin July 27, 2009 16:46 pm

No, Mark thinks he decides who has free speech and who doesn’t.

I feel lucky that I’m one of the few guys Mark won’t let join in.
