Slow News Day, CQ Politics?
By Jane Dudley | Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 | PoliticsSo Afghanistan’s great, we are all looking forward to getting health care just like they have in Great Britain, there aren’t any interesting hearings happening on Capitol Hill, etc., but CQPolitics has pixels to burn, so they come up with this: Two House Republicans’ Activity May Indicate Ambitions for 2012. Those congressmen would be Mike Pence and Eric Cantor. (Disclaimer: Cantor is my congressman. So, I will say selfishly, I hope he isn’t going anywhere in 2012. Overall he is doing a very good job in Congress, which is why I hope he stays. One day, maybe, Speaker Cantor? One can hope).
Back to the article. “The two top lieutenants for House Minority Leader John A. Boehner , R-Ohio, are moving to become more prominent voices for their party, fueling speculation that they have their eyes on White House bids.”
Srsly? “Moving to become more prominent voices”? Oh, well, that settles it. Everyone in Congress who makes a move to become a more prominent voice is definitely running for President!!! Unless he’s trying to become, you know, a more effective Congressman.
Now you know why I don’t write more often here. I just don’t have that killer journalist’s instinct for this kind of thing, clearly a major breaking story. Props to CQ Politics for jumping all over it now!!! I think I’ll go see if CNN has picked it up off of the AP breaking wire.
Call me when you see Cantor or Pence repeatedly standing next to Mitt Romney in Iowa and New Hampshire.
