Palin to resign

I’m worried that Her or someone in Her Family may have some big health issue that they want to keep private, On the other hand… We Criticize Kaine for out of State travel, Maybe She doesn’t want Her activities to interfere with being Governor, If so than thats a huge indicator of Her character.
PWC, you must be a really big fan of hers if you capitalize all the pronouns that refer to her. I thought that was reserved for Him, you know, God.
JR, it will be interesting to see if some or any of the rumors floating around turn out to be true. I followed the link you provided to her statement. I will point out that the video cuts in after the start of her statement, the complete transcript of it is below the video. Actually, it was a pretty good statement. But I agree with you that even if the reasons for stepping down are 100% as she presents, it amounts to that her heart is not in it; therefor it does nothing to increase her appeal if she still has Presidential aspirations.
You know I am rather a fan of hers, and like many, I’m pretty surprised by this. I’d kind of have to agree that it doesn’t seem like her heart is in electoral politics – but I see quite a career as a radio or TV talk show host ahead of her if she wants it.
She campaigned against and referenced it in her speech, politics as usual. I certainly hope she isn’t doing this to go on a book tour and onto the high paid speech circuit. If so that’s pretty . . .politics as usual.
Although her family does have a sizable debt, and fishing in Alaska hasn’t been the greatest over the past couple of years if she’s quitting now just to move towards a seven figure payday she needs to rethink her priorities.
Hiron,
Who can blame her if she cashes out? Who amongst us would be able to resist the temptation?
I am not going to condemn her for being human. While I will blame her being tapped as Vice-President by McCain for partially being responsible for why McCain lost (Mr Moderate chose a maverick, but the maverick was not moderate) her voice still resonates with many Americans.
If she finds a way to keep her voice out there while still making a buck? I am not going to condemn her for that. I might have condemned her for one thing or another if she ran for President, but I will not condemn her for making a buck while she makes a difference.
I reserve the right to disagree with anything she supports.
She either got real bad advice, her heart’s not in it, or she’s an idiot. None of those possibilities strike me as especially positive to her future electoral possibilities.
Or maybe some bad news from an investigation is about to break. The GOP will better off w/o her in the mix for 2012. That assumes that she isn’t quitting to start her campaign ASAP (which would be dumb.)
With all the attacks on Palin and her family, you would have thought she ran for President instead of McCain. As bad as Dick Cheney was attacked, Palin was trashed even more. In a far shorter amount of time at that.
I don’t know what the deal is, but if she is any bit better than what the Democrats label her as, she’s making thought out and moral move.
What happens if she remained Governor and won re-election?
1) She and her family would remain targets of brutally viscious attacks
2)Her Administration would be stagnated by continual charges after each past one was found to be without merit.
3)Can we bother to think she might actually fear for Alaska’s future being harmed by a Governor hamstrung by all the negative attention she gets?
4)There’s a difference between having “heart” to do battle and watching your family being victimized at every turn and being stymied by accusations while you attempt to perform your duties as governor. What good will come out of that?
I know her decisions will dissappoint many conservatives. I’m disappointed at the country losing her myself. However, what do you expect from her? How much more utter hateful CRAP do you expect her or anyone to endure. How is it that she has had to endure more abuse than Congressman Mark Foley that sent explicit messages to underaged boys?
She’s a tough lady, but she isn’t the only one that has to take all the hatred. A lot of people are willing to take abuse at work to support their family, but how many have a job that comes home with them and demeans their children and makes spectacles out of their lives?
Look, if you’re a Democrat and can’t stand her politics, I can respect that. However, as a Democrat, you should be embarrassed by the ruthless attacks on her. Where does it end?
How many good people do we pass over for the most important jobs in the United States of America because they fear how their family will be affected?(from all political parties)
I can certainly understand a desire to step down. She and her family have lives to live. Alaska as every state does, deserves a full time governor.
According to Pilot Online Sarah has made an entry on her Facebook page that indicates:
“I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint,” the former Republican vice presidential candidate wrote in a posting on her Facebook page.
The article also indicates that Sarah’s attorney will be seeking legal action against any blogger or publication that reprints fraudulent accusations that she is under federal investigation for embezzlement or other criminal wrong doing. I think it is worthy to note that in her statement, Sarah claims she was cleared in all ethics violations charges that were brought against her.
Her resignation speech was mesmerizing.
You wanted to look away, but you couldn’t because any minute she might have started babbling about aliens or chipmunks with laser guns or waffles.
Being her speechwriter must be the most frustrating job in the world.
