Jody Wagner defends Kaine’s billion-dollar tax increase
By | Thursday, June 25th, 2009 | Politics

Jody Wagner’s latest email blast attacks Bill Bolling for opposing Tim Kaine’s transportation proposal.

“For the past four years, he’s put ideology ahead of governing, trying to lead the charge against Governor Kaine on everything from transportation funding…”

Remember Kaine’s transportation funding bill? a billion dollar tax increase that lost in the House 98-0 and drove Not Larry Sabato to call it a “Kaine Wreck”

Every House Democrat, Republican and Independent opposed Kaine’s transportation tax increase. And Jody Wagner attacks Bill Bolling for leading the charge against it.

Jody Wagner must be ready to lead the charge for it. A Billion dollar tax increase!

I’m trying to think of a tax increase Jody Wagner hasn’t supported – and I’m stumped. Why we would want to elect this person Lieutenant Governor is beyond me.

Is anyone shocked that this email would come from the Wagner campaign? All we’ve heard from Wagner since the beginning is droning partisan rhetoric, nary an issue to be found.

This latest example is a clear indication that she has no idea what is going on. Even taking into account that Wagner has supported every single proposed tax increase over the last eight years, a logical person would expect that she’d have the intelligence to do some simple research into what she’s talking about. The simple fact that she is attacking Bolling for not supporting a billion dollar tax boondoogle that was defeated 98-0 is stunning.

But what do you expect from someone who misses their budget forecast by $5 billion? Not a lot, and that’s what we’re getting.

Wagner is a total embarrassment on the issue of fiscal responsibility. She has the calculation skills of Enron executives.

Wagner is the weak link on the Democratic ticket, just like Cuccinelli is the weak link on the GOP ticket. It wouldn’t be surprising if the McDonnell people try to make Deeds take a stand on Wagner’s bad forecasting — well it wasn’t really hers, but thats the political short hand. That issue is going to sink her against Bolling because it WILL stick. It will be interesting to see if Republicans try to use it against the rest of the Dem ticket.
