Convention opens
By JR Hoeft | Friday, May 29th, 2009 | PoliticsThe convention has been called to order. Kay Coles James has been nominated for temporary chair…there was no challenge…despite the rumors indicated in my video update below.
Now the rules…it’s a rising vote…and the rules pass…they are adopted…it might be a boring Friday after all!
As for the numbers, there are nearly 11,000 credentialed delegates. 1800 are here today.
For the rest of the day, it will be speechifying. We’ve heard from Wittman and Goodlatte (via video). We’ll also here from the CRFV, YRFV, and others.
Here’s the live stream:
RECESS!!!! See ya tomorrow at 10 a.m! Watch for our pre-game video!
(Jane here). Aaaaannd the fire alarm went off and we had to leave the building (floor events already over for the day). Richmond Fire arrived, but after maybe 10 minutes they let us back in. False alarm??

A boring Friday makes Saturday much better. We can get the work done in a quick efficient manner. Hope to see you there Jim.
Just to let you conventiongoers know, Richmond is hosting its annual Greek Festival on Grove. It’s always a good time with great food.
