Is it just me or is Amy Frederick Virginia's answer to Patricia Blagojevich? She seems rather, um, bitter.

Britt,

I don't have a vote on SCC, and I am not deep ingto the Republican Party "machinery". I am just a local unit chair in a City where we always work uphill. If I did not honestly believe the GOP was the best vehichle to keep the country we grew up in, I would not work at this so much.

I appreciate the fact that folks elected Jeff Frederick to try to effect much needed change in the RPV--the problem is, he was not able to do the job. I reserved judgement for quite some time, and did not blame the 2008 losses all on him. What I do blame him for is the almost insolvency of the RPV, and not carrying though on some promises. Add in a tone deaf admin staff that I could not get follow up from. Poor management, plain & simple.

I did have an opportunity to meet & talk with Mr. Mullins briefly at VFRW Convention last weekend. I don't know him well yet, but I do know he is well thought of. I think many will base their opinions on the execution of this Convention.

By the way, I do still support the Fair Tax. Just keep in mind, it's a pipe dream unless we get a Republican Congress again. That is reality, and the Fair Tax Organization needs to realize it.

Britt - Let's face facts. The 'Big Tent" is only big enough for insiders. The remainder are relegated to "selling the peanuts" outside of the tent. When one of the "peanut sellers" want to take cover "under the tent" the "how much is in it for me" insiders defer to outsiders with big pockets. Simply put, it's all about the buck. Ideology is just means to give the various "peanut sellers" a rallying point and keep them in line. There are givers and takers. Very few givers, if any, are under the tent.

Brian, I understand taking Reid to task. Even myself, but what does Robert Dean have to do with any of this? Sure, he's a strong willed guy ready to push his opinion. However, you're using the same tactic that the Democrats use when they tried to say that Rush Limbaugh pours the kool-aid for the Republican Party. We know what BS that was. Now the Dems run back to Sarah Palin.

I assure you, Robert Dean thinks for Robert Dean. There is no oath in the LP that we must drink the kool-aid. They only swear to not believe in the use of "force" to achieve political goals. Even when I was Secretary of the Tidewater Libertarian Party for two years, I voted for more than one Republican that was facing off against a Libertarian. I almost always vote for Republicans. The TLP has also endorsed Republican candidates when there was no Libertarian opposition.

You can call the Libertarians too small to be effective. You can call them divisive and have some arguement that the Republican banner takes a few hits when RINOs run for office. What is obscenely inaccurate is the allegation that Libertarians are kool-aid drinkers and bow down to any one person as King/Queen. It isn't in the libertarian nature.

Pam, I like to make informed decisions. That means knowing who this Pat Mullins guy is before knowing if I can relax or not. Byler made the 2nd for him and that helps. Knowing that before taking temporary chairmanship Pat Mullins was endorsing Bolling and Cuccinelli helps me overcome the feeling that this was a power struggle. If you read my post entirely you will have seen that I said that removing his support from Bolling and Cuccinelli until things were decided might be the right thing.
I will not apologize for wanting to know where Mullins stands. I do my own thinking.

Also Pam, I don't hold your vote against you. At least you explain your vote. That's good enough for me. You don't hide behind the idea that there's secret evidence that the SCC forbids talking about. You are straight and clear that you think Frederick was bad for the party. You and I disagree on that, fine. I know you work hard and are a credit to your party.

I don't know that you still are in favor of it but, when I met you, you were helping us support the Fair Tax. I doubt we'll disagree on everything.

Reid, your own "backroom strategic thinkers" do everything your accuse the GOP of doing.

Libertarians are invited to drink the Kool Aid of whatever flavor Democrat-turned-Republican-turned-Libertarian Robbie Dean says.

Pam, arrogance before the fall? Every political party began small and grew. The GOP clearly has lost their way and many former Republicans like myself realize that the GOP no longer represents our views and interests. It is a fool's game to waste our time and effort to enter a corrupt process controlled in back rooms and fight those that are obsessed with only one goal - to "win" elections and weld political influence.

Many conservatives don't elect individuals to advance the power of a "party", we elect individuals to govern our communities, states, and nation as our elected representatives. Not our anointed ruling class that is free to ignore our wishes.

Many people tried to change the Virginia GOP from within and they worked to elect Jeff Fredrick as chairman. Now everyone can see exactly how their efforts are honored.

Pam, I am saddened to point this out, but perhaps you are too emersed within the Republican Party machinery in Virginia to really "get it" - the Republican Party is no longer a party that governs in accordance with conservative principles.

Backroom strtategic "thinkers" that really make the decisions for the behavior of the GOP's elected representatives and voting records left Conservatives in pursuit of chasing new voting blocks by pandering to demographic "groups" that do not share our Conservative principles.

It is pointless for Conservatives to remain in the Virginia Republkican Party. It is no longer governing in accordance with Conservative prinicples - and the GOP backroom machinery will NOT allow the rank and file membership to really effect any changes.

Jeff Fredrick is proof enough of this.

The Libertarian Party welcomes Conservatives and we seek candidates that will govern is accordance with LP principles.

Britt--

Steve Waters is correct--State Party Chairmen do not endorse, and should not. This indicates your lack of knowledge of Party protocol. Join the Republican Party, and you might know this.

Mr. Greenmun,

Sorry, like it or not, you don't count. The Libertarian Party cannot get candidates elected, and is not of any consequence. The traditional 2 party structure controls all elective politics in the United States. If you can prove to me otherwise other than Ron Paul, let me know. You should be trying to effect conservative changes through the Republican Party, not splintering off enough votes to elect Democrats.

Just reading & digesting Jeff's response some more.

Jeff Frederick belittles people like me and many other unit chairs that feel that he needed to go in this missive and totally discounts our opinion. Sorry, he thinks he talks for me as one of the folks that write "small checks " (I am one of those). He says I am not one of those "grassroots" , and he is WRONG. I, along with other Unit Chairs (many who called for him to step down) are part of the "base".

The 52nd HOD loss will be on his shoulders alone. He is the one who decided not to run for reelection, and put up his wife--who has a newborn baby and another child under the age of 5 as the candidate. This is just stupid. He cannot lay this at the door of the SCC.

Better yet--go talk to VFRW Officers and board members. (I am one of those too.) That is, Virginia Federation of Republican Women.

Thankfully this immature vindictive boy is not representing the Republican Party of VA for which I given so much of my time, talent and treasure since 2001--and continue to do so today.

Respectfully Submitted,

Pam Brown

I have no problem with Amy Frederick's Facebook Post. Compare it to some posts here on this site about Jeff Frederick, her husband for heaven's sake.

And is he not an Old White Guy? What is incorrect about her post? Why play the CARD? Is that not what the other side likes to do?

I know our new hopefully temp. Chairman. All is not what it seems. But one thing that is apparent for all is he is an Old White Guy.

Louisa County's previous Chairman ran for Commonwealth Attorney in Louisa County against an entrenched Democrat incumbent and won. He then resigned the post of Chairman of Louisa County Republicans and Mullins filled the spot.

The Secretary of the Louisa Republican Committee is a true stand-up guy and has worked his tail off. Only thing I've seen out of Mr. Mullins was ONE letter asking for donations. It was long and wordy and on and on but basically wanted money. Looked like something you'd get from RNC. I tossed it.

Had a run in one time with Mr. M. Yeah, I remember things.

This was a huge mistake. McDonnell could run away with this election. Then again it could be close, real close. And if it's close well then if I was a gambling sort I'd place money on the dem because with the fiasco and the SELECTED chairman three weeks before the convention I'd put my money on the dem.

Was Mr. M vetted? Were any Louisa County folks questioned? Just so curious.
