Thompson endorses Cuccinelli; Sessions and Keating for Brownlee
By | Thursday, April 23rd, 2009 | Politics

Former U.S. Senator from Tennessee and presidential candidate Fred Thompson has announced his support for State Sen. Ken Cuccinelli to be Virginia’s next attorney general.

“At a time in our nation where fundamental, Constitutional rights and protections are often ignored and twisted theories are contrived to circumvent the clear mandates of our founding documents, Virginia needs an Attorney General grounded in his faith to and adherence of the core principles,” writes Thompson. “Ken Cuccinelli is the person best suited to accomplish this for the people.”

In related news, John Brownlee has been endorsed by Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) and fomer Oklahoma governor Frank Keating.

“These great men and former United States Attorneys are two of the strongest and most respected conservative leaders in America, and their support indicates that our campaign is poised for victory at the Convention and in November,” said Brownlee in a statement.

Sen. Sessions served as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama, Attorney General of Alabama, and is currently in his fourth term as a U.S. Senator from Alabama. Gov. Keating served two terms as Governor of Oklahoma from 1995 – 2003 and is the only Republican in Oklahoma’s history to serve two terms as Governor.

Thompson joins another presidential candidate, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, in endorsing Cuccinelli.

Huge endorsement for Cuccinelli! First Mike Huckabee and now Fred Thompson!

Three deserving candidates for Virginia AG that the GOP could be proud of but, I can’t help but be excited about the Cuccinelli campaign.
