Are editorial writers losing their memories or just their minds?
Today’s Virginian-Pilot spends 10 paragraphs on what they call an “unnecessary distraction” (Let’s leave for another day the debate on why they would dedicate all that ink to something they don’t think is important.)
These editorial writers repeated words like “callous”, “cruel” and “heartless” (while saying they didn’t think McDonnell really was….ranking up there with the famous “When did you stop beating your wife” question in the “smearing without actually smearing” catagory)
All because Bob McDonnell said “I’m actually now a retired state employee, sort of unemployed myself.”
Funny how these editorial writers, Democratic bloggers (tail meet dog) and noted lefties didn’t howl at the moon, at least not more than usual, when they heard these words
A self-described “unemployed job seeker,” Mark Warner….(WTOP)
Mark Warner, campaigning all over Virginia calling himself an “unemployed job seeker” and not a peep out of anyone.
If they should’ve criticized McDonnell for anything, it should be for plagiarizing Mark Warner.
So, either the press has two standards for criticism – Republicans get hammered and Democrats get embraced – or the editorial boards don’t know anything that’s happening in politics without reading Democratic blogs and press releases first.
Or both.
