hmmm funny, the pictures over at NLS as to what happened to a lot of McAuliffe signs seem far more scandalous then a single picture of a pile of crunched up signs.

I didn’t see those photos, nor do I intend to visit that web site you mentioned. However, I’m sure I was once told that two wrongs don’t make a right.

So, what is this now, a campaign to see whose signs are vandalized worse?

  3. Britt Howard April 15, 2009 12:39 pm

Who do the Dems think targeted the McAuliffe signs. Republicans or a rival Democrat campaign running for the same nomination?

  4. Brian Kirwin April 15, 2009 13:06 pm

    Environmentally-conscious Democrats, huh?

When will the media report on the hypocrisy of the left – how Democrats give a smaller percentage of their income to charity, but THEY are the ones who “care” because they’ll get government to spend our money for their causes.

How Obama can’t seem to nominate a cabinet of Democrats, who favor higher taxes, who actually pay all their own taxes.

How PETA kills pets instead of finding homes for them, and they criticize anyone else?

And now the heroes of the environmental movement littering.

Brian, where would I get information on the percentage of income that Conservatives and Liberal spend on charity?

And PETA really? I didn’t know that they were part of the Democratic Party, we certainly don’t have Veganism enshrined in our party platform. Plus, I love meat, especially venison, and dairy. If they were to champion that cause, I’d have to stop voting all together. Unless, this was confusion on my part, and you mean the People for the Eating of Tasty Animals. =)

What use is it to pull up the minutest minority of the absolute fringe and say all Democrats are hypocrites?

  6. Brian Kirwin April 15, 2009 18:19 pm

People file tax returns. And PETA isn’t exactly the home of Republicans.

  7. tx2vadem April 15, 2009 19:28 pm

Yes, but you see the tax statistics published by the IRS do not give a breakdown between Conservatives and Liberals or Republicans and Democrats. And everyone’s individual return is not public information. What percentage of Adjusted Gross Income do Republicans give to charity and what is that figure for Democrats?

Interestingly though in the tax stats, the mean of total contributions as a percentage of AGI decreases the higher the income bracket until you get to the $500k and above brackets. The lowest bracket of AGI starts at less than $5k and their mean is 16.62% of AGI (so poor folks are really generous). Then it declines to a mean of 2.59% for AGIs in the $200k to $500k. It then rises again to 5.85% for those in the $10 million plus category. So people who on average make 11,000 time more than people in the less than $5k bracket contribute about a third less of their income (in percentage terms) to charity. Just interesting I thought!

Tex, you’re right that it is not fair to be generalizing the entire Democrat party on the basis of fringe elements. The shoe is just on the other foot here and it is being pointed out in this manner that this is EXACTLY what the Democrats are doing to the Republicans right now.

The term “Right Wing Extremeists” is being thrown around a lot in conjunction with the Tea Parties and groups put on Home Land Securitie’s “watch” list.

  9. Robert W. Smith April 16, 2009 09:11 am

    Hypocrisy?

    Really?

Where was the moral outrage and “tea parties” when George W. Bush was putting our Grandchildren into debt with his “tax cuts”????huh? Where was the indignation when Bush was left with a budget SURPLUS and then put us into record DEFICITS? Didn’t see you republicansheeple crying then!

You boys are the KINGS OF HYPROCRISY!

I would be looking at the right-wing of the party for the vandalism to McDonnell’s signs, not democrats. McDonnell was behind the removal of Frederick and has more than annoyed half of the party! Pointing fingers, without knowing is after all one of your bad habits, but lets get the facts first. I know that ‘facts’ confuses’ most of you, but try it sometime.

    Hypocrisy indeed!

What is it with these folks with the middle initial W…

  11. Britt Howard April 16, 2009 18:01 pm

Robert, you could bother to read. I just called George W. Bush a big government socialist. Painting all of us right wingers as hypocrites isn’t any more fair than when Republicans do it.

If it makes you feel better, I agree that Bush really put the hurt on us for short term wants. Spending us into oblivion to be sure. Unfortunately, Obama is only proving he’s better at it.

As for the signs, there are motives all around. For all we know it could be McDonnell people trashing their own signs to rally a divided base and circle the wagons in support of the known nominee. McAuliffe campaign staff could be trashing their signs and making it public. A stretch but, you’re pointing to stretches too. Being a Frederick backer, I don’t care for McDonnell at all but, I would never ever trash signs. I’ve put too many signs up to tear down someone else’s dedicated work.

  12. Brian Kirwin April 16, 2009 18:44 pm

Anybody ever put up a bunch of an opponent’s signs in front of the wrong hotel so that the guest speaker for a lunch fundraiser went to the wrong place and didn’t show up until most people were leaving?

    ….nevermind
