“Acting” RPV chair to be elected May 2
By JR Hoeft | Monday, April 6th, 2009 | PoliticsApparently First Vice Chair Mike Thomas will only be acting Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia until May 2. At that time, State Central will re-convene to elect someone to serve until the convention convenes May 28.
Is this procedure being done to give a candidate a “leg up” on any potential competition?

JR, did you mean “SELECTED” on May 2nd? Many feel that the new Chair will be “selected not elected.” Who is on the “nominating committee”?

OP – ugh, GET OVER IT…………………….
Well…OP has a point.
The SCC needs to tread very carefully and must be completely transparent about what they are doing.
Certainly I am very interested in how SCC plans to conduct this process and will continue our coverage.
All the procedures are outlined in the party plan. Go to RPV.ORG and read it. No matter who gets it May 2 the convention will have the final say.
I do think this is ridiculoous – Mike Thomas should simply hold on as interim Chairman until the convention. This may be to give someone an inside track, but then again such an imprint may not be to that candidate’s advantage.
Stonewall,
Having met you, I get the sense if you dropped the moniker, you might be a bit more courteous in your comments. You seemed awfully cool and you keep darn good company. Having said that…
I HAVE read the party plan. I KNOW what it says.
What I don’t need is some pseudonymous sanctimonious ass implying that I haven’t and that I don’t know what the process is.

Sorry I did not mean to offend. I should have known as a good Naval Officer like you read the “night orders”
We need to have a public debate on Lee and Jackson at the Capitol next year. I know the SCV will turn out in large numbers.LOL.
We had a debate on Lee and Jackson. They called it the war of Southern Secession or some such thing. As I recall, Lee lost the debate to Grant and Jackson lost his arm and his life to a minie ball in metro-Fredericksburg from friendly fire, dying down the road from a defunct Stuckey’s. That debate was over sometime in 1865.
It’s 2009. I’m all for preserving history and heritage. And if you want a holiday memorializing war heroes, fine. But can we make it for people who actually won their war and did so in relatively recent history? I’ll take Black Jack Pershing Day or George Marshall Day ahead of Lee Day, Jackson Day, or for that matter, King Day.
