Liberal media bias and Obama
By | Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 | Catch-All

I’ve been witness to so many forms of liberal media bias (3 liberal guests and 1 conservative on a talk show, editorial boards with shifting standards depending on what helps the Democrat, fawning stories about Democrats with attack pieces about Republicans), if I listed them all, there’d be no time to sleep.

But this experience was so blatant, I had to share.

I was interviewed by a national magazine about President Obama, and gave my commentary, some critical and some laudatory. I then received an email from a “fact checker”

“The writer has told me that you weren’t exactly enamored, but he tried to adapt your comments to make it a positive piece for our readers. If you feel you’ve been misrepresented, please give me your feedback”

I almost fell over! They asked for my opinion, and they got it, but my comments didn’t match their agenda, so they changed my quotes, emailed them to me, and asked if I minded the changes?

“To make it a positive piece for our readers.”

Amazing. Suddenly with Obama in the White House, the press is mightily concerned with writing a “positive piece.”

About the author

Brian Kirwin

The right wants to jeer him. The left wants to censor him. Moderates usually want both. Brian Kirwin is a political consultant and public relations strategist in Virginia Beach with a lightning-rod flair. Brian also serves on the VB Arts & Humanities Commission and frequently appears on Hampton Roads theatrical stages, if only to prove that all actors aren’t liberals. Kirwin’s columns stir up debate and hit the political scene with no punches pulled.

Difference between USSR Communist media and USA “mainstream media”

In Russia government make media say what they want – even if lie.
In USA “Mainstream media” try make government what they want – even if lie..
    …..eventually they become same thing?!

I consider myself a conservative independent and choose to use my right as an American to vote for the person I think who will do a good job regardless of party affiliation. I am a huge fan of Mitch Daniels, our GOP governor. He does very well in the media, so I guess I am confused by all of this media bias nonsense. The media is what it is, however technology has changed everything. If you go to Google News and type in a topic, it will give you every article written including Fox, MSNBC or whatever. Read all sides and make your mind up and there is no media bias. That is what I do – seems pretty simple to me.
