Trailer Trashed
By | Sunday, March 15th, 2009 | Politics

Another movie that lost the Best Picture Oscar to Slumdog Millionaire was Hillary: The Movie. Never heard of it? Well you can thank McCain-Feingold for never seeing the movie trailers or being able to order the movie with On-Demand features from cable providers. The full-length documentary was created by Citizens United, a non-profit conservative activist group led by David Bossie, and was inspired by the success of Michael Moore’s anti-Bush movie Fahrenheit 9/11. The movie was deemed an infomercial style advertisement with political appeal and fell into grasps of McCain-Feingold because it was partially financed with corporate funds. Now Citizens United is taking their case to the Supreme Court to make the case their First Amendment rights were violated. Makes me wonder how long it will be when “non-traditional journalists” i.e. bloggers, YouTubers, etc will no longer be exempt from expressing their political views online. Until then, the only scary movies you’ll hear about from me are going to be made by the Wayan brothers.
