Pickett payback – endorses McAuliffe
By JR Hoeft | Monday, March 9th, 2009 | PoliticsTerry McAuliffe was the chief fundraiser for the Clinton Campaign and tied to many Democratic fundraising endeavors between 1988 and 2005. Rep. Owen Pickett served the 2nd Congressional District from 1987-2001, so it’s not that big of a surprise that Pickett, who likely benefited from the Clinton’s in some way or form, would endorse McAuliffe today.
“Terry McAuliffe has the dynamic leadership qualities and visionary problem solving ability that Virginia needs today to deal with the serious economic challenges confronting us, ” Pickett said. “Whether it’s his commitment to keeping the nuclear carriers in Norfolk or developing Virginia’s green industry, Terry will bring the innovative ideas that we need in Richmond to create and keep good jobs here in the Commonwealth.”
So, since Pickett thinks McAuliffe is going to bring jobs to Virginia and the 2nd District, is Chairman McAuliffe going to reconsider petitioning Secretary Salazar for natural gas and oil 50 miles off the coast – an act which would bring nearly 3000 jobs to Virginia Beach and the district?

I am incredibly disappointed in Rep. Owen Pickett. He was a conservative democrat while in office and did a good job. His endorsements used to carry weight with me.
Out of the three available candidates, Terry McAuliffe is the worst possible pick. He’s just bad for Virginia.
