10:04pm UPDATE: Herrity concedes. That’s two elections in a month in NOVA where GOP candidate has gotten within 1%.
UPDATE: Uncertified results with absentee returns appears to be:
Bulova 51,949
Herrity 50,732

Returns are coming in for the special election for Fairfax County Chairman with Republican Pat Herrity against Democrat Sharon Bulova. RedNova is liveblogging the results as they come in.

I will say that the absentee drive was HUGE for Herrity…I wouldn’t be surprised if he won on the absentees.
With it within nearly 1600 votes it’s anyone’s guess, really.
This is too close to my liking….
I’m more frustrated at how slow Fairfax is with the results. Seems that it’s like this every year with the county taking forever to get counts in.

Springfield has two precincts out, Sully has one, Absentees yet to be counted. One Springfield precinct still out has 4800 active voters.
Mt. Vernon has two precincts with 6k active voters still out
Dranesville leaning Herrity with 3 precincts out, 7k active voters, not sure on turnout.

If the second numbers are right Herrity can ask for a recall.
I was at the Herrity Party, Pat didn’t concede, He is waiting for the canvass.
PWC – yeah, I saw multiple accounts from folks at the party say concession but now I’m hearing more otherwise and a canvass tomorrow morning. This may not be over yet.

Either way, its still a good sign for the GOP. Perhaps if we wait just a little bit longer the Obama excitement will go down.
