How about a no confidence petition for Speaker Bill Howell
I guarantee more than 55 votes…………..way more
I have a suggestion to everyone. Let’s waste our time trying to hold the House of Delegates rather than worrying about Lee Jackson Day. I’d rather die on the bulwarks trying to turn the tide than debating history.
Redistricting is in two years. Take a look at Ben Tribbett’s most recent twitter message. He told Miller and Northam to shut up. The reason: they just formed some coalition with Vogel and Stuart to have non-partisan redistricting, and I’m guessing the Dems have decided that they can’t lose after Obama’s win. The Dems aren’t going to leave us with a scrap of power if we can’t win this year. Undercutting the Delegates by trying to force this dilatory issue isn’t helping. You guys should take Tribbett’s hint too and get to work on something productive for this election.
I would presume you listened to the podcast with Speaker Howell? So, I’m sure you can tell me how much time we discussed the petition and how much time we dedicated to discussing taxes, the budget, transportation, etc. Right?
I listened to part of it so far and what struck me was the sidestepping. You asked him point blank what he thought of the governors proposal. His answer some blabbering about taxes bad blah blah.
Ok Mr. Chairman so what are you going to do instead. If I was him I would pIck some other areas that need cutting if I was against the tobacco taxes.
[...] Bill Howell that you heard in 2004″ That was how Shaun Kenney described the Speaker in his interview with Jim Hoeft. He (Shaun) meant it as a compliment, and so do [...]
Heard the rest
Took him 12:30 minutes but he finally came up with some good items. He needs to work on his delivery a bit and get that stuff out quicker :-p.
People can run on these types of issues. We get that message out and we can win ANYWHERE. Looking forward to seeing the specifics and whatever you do don’t back down and don’t compromise (like you did last year rolling over pretty much) on these items
