Bailouts Gone Wild
By | Wednesday, January 7th, 2009 | Policy

The absurdity continues. Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis has teamed up with Hustler publisher Larry Flynt to request Congress and Paulson for a mere $5 billion to bailout the adult entertainment industry due to the limp economy.

People are too depressed to be sexually active,” Flynt said in a statement. “This is very unhealthy as a nation. Americans can do without cars and such but they cannot do without sex.

It is obvious this is simply a publicity stunt to attract attention to the upcoming AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas next week but it highlights something more important. Every industry can claim its importance to the American economy and make the case it needs a bailout for the benefit of the country as a whole. Those with large lobbying budgets will get the bailouts. Now that the States are asking for over $1,000,000,000,000 in bailout money, we really need to ask ourselves when are we going to pull out.

You got to love Larry Flynt! He has an awesome sence of humor. I also love the fact that he’s sueing his nephews over using the Flynt brand to sell “inferior” porn :-)
