The Race For Moran’s Other Seat
By | Monday, December 15th, 2008 | Politics

When Brian Moran resigned from his Delegate seat he also resigned as chairman of the House of Delegates Democratic Caucus.  Anita Kumar reports that Del. Kristen Amundson is activly running for the position but is not a guarantee:

Del. Lionell Spruill Sr. (D-Chesapeake), who recently resigned his position as caucus vice chairman, said he will not support Amundson but refused to eloborate.

“It’s not bad blood,” Spruill said. “It’s what is best for the caucus.”

Amundson and House Minority Leader Ward L. Armstrong (D-Henry) would not comment on Spruill’s remarks.

Spruill recently resigned his leadership position to focus more on working for the Moran for Governor and Bowerbank for Lt. Governor campaigns.

Amundson has endorsed Jody Wagner for Lieutenant Governor.

That’s not why Spruill resigned his position with the caucus.

Vivian – Anita summed up his reasonsing well:

Spruill said he resigned from his leadership post because he didn’t have enough time to devote to the job since he is helping candidates, including Moran, and may face a challenger for his own seat next year

If that’s not true, then why did Spruill resign?

Maybe he’s holding out for more money.

Vivian – also, I didn’t mean for my previous comment to sound snippy (on reread it kinda does, sorry) – I’m genuinely curious on Spruill’s reasoning, I heard it was because he would be working for Moran and Bowerback and might need to focus on his own seat.

I guess Amundson didn’t pony up the cash to Spruill!
