Keeley picks up endorsements in the 81st
By | Monday, November 24th, 2008 | Politics

Tom Keeley, former CO of NAS Oceana, was endorsed this week by City Councilmember (and if rumors are true, a future candidate for the House of Delegates) Bob Dyer and former candidate for Virginia Beach Mayor Scott Taylor, who ran 4th out of 4 in the Mayoral campaign this year.

Together, they will launch Veterans for Keeley at a press conference 1 PM Tuesday at the Veteran’s memorial on 1000 19th st.

Keeley, Sheriff Paul Lanteigne, and Barry Knight of the Planning Commission are vying for the House of Delegates seat vacated by Terrie Suit.

Brian Kirwin

The right wants to jeer him. The left wants to censor him. Moderates usually want both. Brian Kirwin is a political consultant and public relations strategist in Virginia Beach with a lightning-rod flair. Brian also serves on the VB Arts & Humanities Commission and frequently appears on Hampton Roads theatrical stages, if only to prove that all actors aren’t liberals. Kirwin’s columns stir up debate and hit the political scene with no punches pulled.

I support Tom Keeley in this race. I live in the 81st District.

Tom Keeley was my commanding officer at Oceana/Dam Neck Annex, and to this day I consider him my friend. He is a sincere and caring person that carefully analyzes the situation. As the CO of Oceana, he made some hard calls and forced the the City of Virginia Beach to reconsider the relationship it has with the Navy. The reevalution the city did has fostered renewed cooperation and has ensured Oceana’s viability for years to come. Now the region is scrambling to retain (1) carrier but consider the economic loss the city would have had to bear had it lost Oceana!

I could not think of a better person for this elected seat.
