Food Drives
By | Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 | Catch-All

From Virginia Beach’s newest school board member, Patrick Salyer:

Chris “The Specialist” Kettner has asked me to appeal to you and others for help to feed the hungry in our own city. Chris broadcasts Monday through Friday 5-6 PM on WPMH Radio 670 AM, a sales training and motivation show.

The link to his website is: http://www.strangeratthedoor.com/radio.htm

Chris collects non-perishable food to distribute to churches in Virginia Beach to help those who are hungry.

Chris’ office is located at 522 S. Independence Blvd, Suite 104. Telephone 274.6983 (c)

The dead line for drop off this Thanksgiving is close of business next Tuesday, November 18th. Please don’t forget him as Christmas is right around the corner.

When you stop at the grocery store could you spend $5.00, $10.00, $20.00 or more in non-perishable food and drop it off at his office before next Tuesday?

Hunger knows no season and Chris and others are working hard year around to take care of our own here in Virginia Beach. Will you help us not only during this holiday season, but throughout the year as you are able?

Please feel free to use this thread to post other food drives you might be aware of.

About a month ago, my parish – St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Virginia Beach – had an acute shortage in our Food Pantry due to a demand spike. (Economic indicator?) They probably can still use help.

Regardless of party affiliation, let’s commit to getting involved in helping others where we can.

It’s great to see leadership at the local level to bring attention to efforts like this. Thanks, Mr. Salyer.
