Congratulations, Senator Mark Warner

Fox News is projecting Mark Warner the winner of the U.S. Senate seat in Virginia. Congrats to our next Senator. And congrats to the Gilmore campaign on a hard-fought effort.

I know this will sound like sacrilege to my conservative compatriots, but I can think of worse senators than Webb and Warner.

We’ll live.

Mark Warner won this seat the old fashioned way, he earned it.

Warner and Webb both frustrate me. I doubt they will mean much for Virginia as they serve, but you are right, they are a minimal risk.

That is, unless Obama wins and even more so if the Senate goes 60% Democrat.

We’ll do more than live. We’ll live … well.

Not with higher taxes, a redistribution of wealth, a national healthcare system, a weaker national defense, expanded welfare, etc.

When we look to government to solve our problems, we lose; dependency is no solution.

Webb and Warner will have to show me. Color me skeptical.

All I can say concerning checks and balances is there are still 4 or 5 (?) seats that allow for a Senate filibuster. That’s what I call hanging on by the skin of your teeth. If Bearing Drift don’t shift its rudder to starboard, we just might lose that too!
