In this thread, who do you think should be serving in the U.S. Senate?
Important note: please build an argument as to WHY you feel the way you do.

This election year is crucial for the state of Virginia and for our nation.
It is absolutely critical that we elect a candidate to the U.S. Senate who will stand up to the big spending liberals in Congress…someone who will fight for the taxpayers of our state…a person willing to fight to reduce wasteful spending and lower taxes…a U.S. Senator who will protect our families and the working men and women…a man with the courage and honesty who will go to battle for Virginians.
You deserve a U.S. Senator with all of those qualities. You should demand a Senator who is honest and tough and who will work for you. And, my friends I submit that candidate in this election is former Gov. JIM GILMORE, and I hope you will help us elect him as our next U.S. SENATOR!
You may remember that as Virginia’s Governor Jim Gilmore signed into law five different tax cuts for Virginians totaling $1.5 billion, including a 70 percent cut in the Car Tax. Time and again, Jim Gilmore stood his ground against those who wanted to tax and spend and take more money from your pockets. For his courageous stands against wasteful spending and increased taxes, Jim Gilmore was three times awarded the “Friends of the Taxpayer Award” by Americans for Tax Reform.
You may also remember that as Attorney General Jim Gilmore launched successful investigations into Medicaid fraud, government waste, and consumer protection. The fact is that Jim Gilmore is someone who stands up for the working people of Virginia. We MUST elect Jim Gilmore to the United States Senate on November 4th!
PLEASE REMIND YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND ASSOCIATES TO VOTE ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH FOR JIM GILMORE FOR U.S. SENATE!! He will work to reduce government spending and to lower taxes…he will fight for you and your family.

I would echo the comments of our good Lt.Gov. Bolling. He was definitely on target. Jim Gilmore will absolutely get my vote and support.
Jim Gilmore is a true fiscal conservative. He ran on and delivered on small government values that protected the taxpayer.
Unlike “I lied about the economic recovery so that I could lie about raising your taxes” Mark Warner, Jim Gilmore kept his word and made a committment to give car tax relief to all Virginians. Jim Gilmore throughout his administration knew that some of the vast surpluses during his tenure should be returned to the taxpayer. Unfortunately, in a new era of terror, the entire nation went into recession. It is a deep shame that a great governor and one of his tax cuts was falsely blamed for a NATIONWIDE recession.
In April prior to Warner raising taxes unnecesssarily, an article was run in the Business section of the Virginian Pilot. This article stated that state tax revenue gains were on pace to balance the budget WITHOUT a tax increase. During the same period “Chicken Little” Mark Warner insisted that we were all doomed without historic tax increases. Warner lied to the public and decieved the voters.
In contrast, Jim Gilmore stood up to massive pressure and did everything possible to give Virgianians tax relief. It was Gov. Jim Gilmore that held true to the Republican creed. It was Gilmore that fought against wasteful spending.
The press has told everyone that Gilmore was solely responsible for budgetary problems. Since many people allow the “Press” to do their thinking for them, many believed it.
Apparently this holds true for various people that dare to call themselves “Republican”. Among “Republicans” that are supporting Democrat Mark Warner are Chichester, Paul Lanteigne, and at the recent Republican party meeting Will Sessoms announced that he also supports Democrat Mark Warner over Republican Jim Gilmore.
I will NOT desert Jim Gilmore. I will not waiver, as I appreciate the fine job Gilmore has done . I also know that Gilmore’s superior knowledge in regards to National Security and his common sense views on energy independence will serve Virginia and America well.
I support and will vote for Jim Gilmore for US Senate. I urge you to do the same.
I’m voting for Mark Warner. I do have a personal story about Warner and my mother, but I’m not going to share it here. The point is that Warner seems to act on his commitments and reaches out to his constituency when they need help. I hope he’ll do that as our Senator as well.
I know, I’m a bit weak in the argument for Senate beyond personal experience. While I know that basis judgment solely on how they’ve run their campaign is not the best way to make a decision, I’ve been a bit put off by how reactionary Gilmore has been.
Jim Gilmore would be a great U.S. Senator - great. Warner already lied to Virginia’s voters on taxes once - why be fooled twice?
