Obama Wins Election in Landslide - Warning: Redistribution Ahead
|

The Weekly Reader’s kids poll has accurately predicted the presidential winner in 12 of the last 13 races.
This year’s results?
Obama ~ 54.7%
McCain ~ 42.9%
If the kids are right, this is what the electoral map will look like:
Somehow, McCain won among 10th graders -but Obama’s support in EVERY other grade level created a tsunami which the Republican candidate could not overcome. Obama won Virginia in the kid’s poll.
So, it seems that our public school kids want change - or they want to be left with change - or something like that.
Can McCain rise above the sentiments of our nation’s children? can he overcome the predictive power of the Weekly Reader poll?
Maybe. After all, the kid’s poll was taken over a period of weeks - while Obama was way ahead in most polls of adults too. The margin has narrowed. And, we have a few more days to go. I volunteered at McCain / Palin HQ in my area today, and let me tell you, the place was humming. We got a strong reception going door-to-door too. More of that and we will could make up another couple of points over the next two days.
And, kids have their own reasoning processes. An acquaintance of mine recently related that his son “voted” for Obama. Why? - “because he has hair like mine,” the young citizen explained. The boy has dark hair (as does his Republican father) while other family member’s have blond hair. And then, there’s the fact that the teacher’s unions have been strongly pushing for Obama — like when the VEA told teacher’s to “wear blue” for Obama because some older students might not be registered to vote.

Weekly Reader is a subsidiary of Reader’s Digest and the kid’s poll was conducted in conjunction with Zogby. It was a survey of over 125,000 children, grades K-12.

Do you think the kids might be representing the opinions of, mainly, their mothers?
They did a straw poll at my son’s school this past week, and in a normally Republican area, Obama got 66% of the vote. Yes, this could be a sign of big trouble, but, more likely, it is just a reflection of the massive advertising the Obama campaign has done as well as all the (free) publicity his campaign has gotten.
Wait….Texas, Alaska, Mississippi, Georgia, South Dekota, Montana and Arizona are going to go for Obama?! And Minnesota going for McCain?
I have no doubt that Obama is going to win (knock on wood), however, I don’t think it’s goign to look anything like this.
Obama will definitely take Alaska, even the kids know Palin isn’t qualified to be VP…
Palin is more qualified than Obama is - and she’s only running for Vice President. She has more executive experience. She’s been the mayor of a city, the governor of a state, she’s taken on her own party on issues and won, she ran against an incumbent in her own party and won, she’s been the commander-in-chief for the Alaskan National Guard….Obama doesn’t have any of that experience. He hasn’t accomplished anything like the things Gov. Palin has accomplished in her career. Just what is it that makes Obama qualified to be president?? We don’t even know if he’s eligible to be president because we don’t have definitive proof that he was even born in this country. The only thing Obama has done is talk and write memoirs.
Wow!
Uhh, Teacher Lady. Actually Hawaii is part of America, but Panama isn’t (which is where McCain was born).
Also, as a “teacher” wouldn’t you want the most educated and intelligent person in office? Some how I don’t see McCain or Palin investing a dime in America’s educational infrastructure. According to their plan, giving tax cuts to corporations and the rich will solve all our problems.
As regards to “proof” what do we really know about Palin? The GOP and the media spent almost two years digging up dirt on Obama, we’ve only had six weeks to turn over Palin’s rocks. I wouldn’t be surprised if the more you learn the scarier she’ll seem. The problem is we just don’t know enough about her and I’d rather not find out the hard way.
One thing is for sure… public school educated kids will learn that even if McCain wins this election…. that Obama actually did.
Bush selected not elected anyone?
On the cultural side of things, show me a white kid that doesn’t want to dress like a ‘gangster’?
When I was growing up Fonzi was cool.
Donkey,
Why would you expect some of the lowest payed professionals in our country to side with the GOP? What have they ever done for teachers except slash their funding and lower the quality of education?
teachers make a pretty decent salary where i live. I’m not begrudging of it because I value the education profession and think most of our teachers do a great job. But in my county, even entry level teachers make more a year than I do and I don’t get two months - more or less - off.
