Obama - the 6th podium is the charm

By Brian Kirwin
Published October 31st, 2008

This was the story rambling through the city of Virginia Beach yesterday. As reverential gasps at the pending approach of “THE ONE” willowed through the Verizon Wireless Ampitheater, so were buzzing cell phones.

The podium isn’t good enough for O-B-A-M-A!

Neither was the second one. Or the third.

Six podiums later, one met with the ONE’S approval - borrowed from Norfolk.

Poor guy…can’t handle leading the free world unless he likes the podium.

Obama’s staff went through almost as many podiums as homes are owned by McCain - that “man of the people.”

I’m just glad it doesn’t cost $150,000 to try to make Obama look like a leader…

  2. Brian KirwinNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 10:21 am

Rather spread the wealth around, Mark?

  3. Eng EschNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 10:48 am

Gosh, another negative story about Obama from Bearing Drift? I’m SHOCKED! Who’d have thought. And oh, how freaking trivial you guys get…

Can anyone shed a positive story about McCain OR Obama for once?

Come on — maybe something positive about this Tito guy for McCain. Or maybe one about how many millions of people are going to flood the polls for Obama. For the first time.

Also, am I the only one who finds that graphic a little offensive?

  4. maplestarNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 11:23 am

Gee, unattributed rumor/story. When you’re stooping that low to dig dirt, is there ANY reason I should trust what I read here?

  5. Brian KirwinNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 12:02 pm

Maybe I have a video just like the L.A. Times

  6. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 12:08 pm

    Brian,

If you have the video I am sure you would show it, unlike the LA times.

If you have some proof provide it. Anybody can report “I once heard…”.

  7. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 12:18 pm

    Hey Brian,

Perhaps you can provide the time line for all of these podium switches? How long was the Obama address delayed while these switches were happening? How long would it have taken for each of these podiums to travel from where they where and for Barack to disapprove of them?

Provide the time line even if you can’t produce the video.

  8. Brian KirwinNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 1:01 pm

If you say anyone can report “I once heard” then what problem do you have?

  9. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 1:12 pm

    Brian,

    What problem do I have?

I once heard the moon was made out of green cheese. Now do you understand the problem?

    Provide the time line.

  10. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 1:18 pm

I think the problem is that Brian Kirwin is just too willing to accept the impossible about the candidate he opposes.

He’s so willing to support his candidate he is willing to accept the impossible might be true.

  11. Brian KirwinNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 1:26 pm

LittleDavid, are you asking me to prove to you what the moon is made of?

  12. Eng EschNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 1:34 pm

Brian — is this hearsay or fact?

    I think that’s all we’re asking here…

  13. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 1:44 pm

    Brian,

I am not asking you to prove it. I’m willing to bow to silence.

I am only asking for you to prove what you say.

  14. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 1:49 pm

Oops, I got my dander up and spoke prematurely.

What that last post should of said was:

    Brian,

I do not ask you to prove the moon is made out of green cheese, I only ask you to prove what you yourself speak of in regards to the 6 podiums for Obama.

I am willing to bow to science. I am willing to bow to proof.

Perhaps this is a little bit clearer.

  15. Brian KirwinNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 2:02 pm

You want me to prove that I heard the story? Do you want every reporter to prove that what they write in their notes actually happened too?

  16. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 2:07 pm

    Brian,

How long was the Obama address delayed?

How long would it have had to delay if what you say is true happened?

Where you waiting there till midnight?

  17. Brian KirwinNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 2:23 pm

LD, I wasn’t there. If i was, I would have said “I was there and”

Get a life, please. I’m sure there’s one around for you to borrow.

  18. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 2:29 pm

    Brian,

So you reported about all the cell phones ringing without being there. The time line does not add up and you have no video.

Seems to me we are witnessing Brian telling tall tales. It does not have to be the truth (he’s smart enough to know he is telling a lie) but it adds up to being a juicy rumor he can spread.

  19. Brian KirwinNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 2:38 pm

Seems to me you can’t read my first sentence.

  20. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 2:39 pm

I guess we were supposed to only read the first one and ignore the second?

  21. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 2:51 pm

Seems to me Brian is engaged in (gasp) gossip. Gossip is condemned in the Bible.

  22. Eng EschNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 3:09 pm

So Brian … if someone were to “tell you” that McCain had a gay affair with an underage staffer, would you report this as well? How about wrapping it all up together with a terrible graphic as well?

At the very minimum, a quote attributed to a named source would be a truly amazing thing to expect from this crap rumor.

A major reason blogs rant against mainstream media is because the blogs promote this crap and don’t understand why no one listens.

I can’t wait to see what else comes out of your *ss over the next three days.

  23. Brian KirwinNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 3:14 pm

    Why so serious?

  24. MarkNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 4:31 pm

Actually, there have been published stories about Todd Palin cheating on Sarah in the British press - but the US conservative media has suppressed that information… as for McCain and the 19 year old male intern, I think that’s just a rumor…

Brian will bring out all the same scare/slime tactics the GOP is famous for (and once treated McCain to), insinuation, rumor, nothing is too low for them. He’s a good little GOP footsoldier. Then, he’ll complain that we are taking his mudslinging too seriously… wierd.

  25. Eng EschNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 4:48 pm

So long as it’s not indicative of all VA (or GOP) voters for that matter.

If I were a member of the GOP I would be ashamed to read this. It does no service to your side, Brian. Wise up a bit before you take every unsubstantiated thing and fabricate it into more spew and bile.

Why so serious? Dude! Words matter –that’s why.

  26. Brian KirwinNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 5:00 pm

It’s a podium, guys. Mark, nothing is too low for a podium? Actually, the podium might’ve been too low, or too high.

Eng, you have so many reasons to be ashamed, I feel superfluous in giving you another.

    Brian,

As much as I disagree with you most of the time, I’ll still be your friend:-)

    Happy Halloween Everybody!!

(Especially to all my fellow Pagans)

  28. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 5:34 pm

    Happy Halloween Frenchy!

But I do hope the ghosts and goblins carry Brian away. Grin.

    God bless Lili St. Cyr

  30. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 5:39 pm

OK, OK, Happy Halloween to Brian too.

But I still say Brian is the only guy I know that does not have to wear a costume to a Halloween party!

  31. Brian KirwinNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 6:04 pm

LittleDavid, I’m an actor. I wear costumes all year.

  32. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 6:14 pm

    Brian,

Are you sure you meant plural? I’ve only seen the one with the horns.

  33. Brian KirwinNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 6:20 pm

    Are you always so Phallic-focused?

  34. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 6:25 pm

I hadn’t even noticed the barbed tail until you mentioned it. I was pointing out to what comes out of your head.

  35. Brian KirwinNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 6:26 pm

What a tiny pointer you have.

  36. LittleDavidNo Gravatar on October 31st, 2008 at 6:44 pm

Enough of this. We’ve wasted the positive feelings Frenchy gave us to descend into trash. Perhaps I am just as guilty as anyone else.

I’ll try to lead the way with allowing Brian the last insult (and if he feels he needs another he is welcome to it).

I’m getting ready to go back on the road. Freight has not been good recently, but I still have to pay the bills with what little freight there is out there. On rare occasions while on the road I get access to a WiFi outlet. I should be back around Thanksgiving, but there is a chance I’ll be gone until Christmas.

And Brian Kirwin says…. Good riddance!

    I believe. I believe!

Thanks for the story, but next time just attribute the story to “confidential informants”. That should satisfy all the little pointers.
