This Strange Election
By | Thursday, October 30th, 2008 | Politics

From the National Review’s Mark Steyn:

This is an amazing race. The incumbent president has approval ratings somewhere between Robert Mugabe and the ebola virus. The economy is supposedly on the brink of global Armageddon. McCain has only $80 million to spend, while Obama’s burning through $600 mil as fast as he can, and he doesn’t really need to spend a dime given the wall-to-wall media adoration. And tonight Chris Matthews’ doctors announced that his leg tingle has metastasized leaving his entire body like a vibrating cellphone whose ringtone is locked on “I’m In Love, I’m In Love, I’m In Love, I’m In Love, I’m In Love With A Wonderful Guy.”

And yet an old cranky broke loser is within two or three points of the King of the World. Strange.

Indeed.

If the leg tingler wins, here’s a good way to choose who loses their job.

How To Choose Obama-Caused Employee Layoffs

    Dear Fellow Business Owners,

As a Business owner who employs 30 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama, will be our next President, and that my Taxes and Fees, will go up in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, I figure, that the customer, will have to see an increase in my fees to them of about, 8%. I will also have to lay off six of my employees. This really bothered me as I believe we are family, here and didn’t know how to choose who will have to go. So, this is what I did. I strolled thru the parking lot and found, eight Obama bumper stickers on my employees cars. I have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off.

I can’t think of another fair way to approach this problem. If you have a better idea, let me know. I am sending this letter to all business owners that I know.

Weird that the NRO propaganda machine has a GOP-oriented piece. Didn’t see that coming…

The polls are lying — my thought is that it will be much, much worse for McCain. First time voters and cell phone users are not being contacted as much as those with land lines. And then you can’t count on the people who had their phones cut off because they can’t pay their bills.

And then there are people like myself that refuse to answer anything that shows up anonymously or with an 800 number on my caller ID.
