Thompson video in support of McCain
By | Friday, October 24th, 2008 | Politics

Former U.S. Senator from Tennessee and candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, Fred Thompson, gives in the below YouTube video his reasons for supporting Sen. John McCain.

While I agree with Thompson whole-heartedly, I can’t help but think that had Thompson just campaigned a little harder, made his announcement a little earlier, and reached out to conservatives a little more…that the Oval Office setting he put himself in for this video might be a little closer to reality.

    J.R.,

I guess you pointed to this video because Senator Thompson so eloquently voiced your concerns.

    But let me voice mine.

John McCain promises change. Just conservative change. I supported him. I really, really like John McCain. But then John McCain started running a no change campaign to get enough votes to get elected. I was willing to stick with him. I knew the real John McCain, and I really liked him.

But before he even got into office he tapped Sarah Palin as VP. No change. More of the same. He selected someone to run alongside him that was chosen only, but from what I have been able to figure out, was her acceptable conservative values and it didn’t hurt that she was a woman. It didn’t matter that “conservative values” sold us out.

Well John McCain is an old man. Ronald Reagan proved to us age does matter. With John’s first official act he chose “no change” to back him up if something happens to him.

Barack Obama does not really appeal to me like John McCain does. But I have to take age into account.

Perhaps it is now time to allow fresh, new blood flow into our government. The younger generation wants to grab the reigns. OK, I’m all in. My generation has screwed things up enough. If the younger generation is motivated to clean up the mess my generation made, God bless them on their journey.

Yes, John McCain is obviously the squeaky clean candidate who has lived a life of service and sacrifice who has always put his country first without any thought to his personal aggrandizement, reputation, family name, status, and wealth.
