What ever happened to "Pay as you go."

I think they should raise our taxes, everytime they propose spending our money.

If Congress had to come to the American people and tell them they had to increase taxes for each of the pork barrel projects they wanted passed, I think Americans would be paying a lot more attention to what those clowns are doing with our money and we sort the wheat from the chaff fairly quickly.

But it will never happen. Americans are lazy. They'd rather slap it on their credit cards than manage their money/taxes.

Jack, there's really no difference between McCain and Obama. The only reason people are going to vote for McCain is because they're against Obama, which to me is like choosing Splenda over Equal because you're against artificial sweeteners.

Brian, do we really need to dance this dance again? As i said a couple months back -

Reagan promised fiscal responsibility and spending cuts to match his tax cuts. Instead we got saddled with a skyrocketing deficit and metasticized national debt.

“Read my lips - no new taxes.” We see what happened when Bush 41 tried to deal with the resulting deficit.

Then when Clinton took the stage, he himself was bitten by the Reagan Legacy and followed Rubin’s advice that addressing the deficit was more important than his promised tax cuts.

Bush 43? “I don’t think our troops ought to be used for what’s called nation building.” ‘Nuff said.

While I agree with you Stephen that McCain is hardly the ideal conservative, he is a damn sight better than O’Bama

Huh, I didn't know he was Irish.

I agree... History does repeat itself. Take this for instance:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2007-12-23-romney-mccain_n.htm

"Taking aim at a rallying John McCain, New Hampshire front-runner Mitt Romney said Saturday that his GOP presidential rival had failed "Reagan 101" by twice opposing President Bush's tax cuts."

Or:

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=24369

"Take a quick trip down memory lane. Less than a year ago, Sen. McCain was one of the leaders crafting a “comprehensive” mass amnesty bill behind closed doors. He, along with Kennedy, Obama and Clinton, blocked every attempt to amend the bill with any measures to decrease the damage it would have done."

Or:

His anti gun voting record, or his anti free speech record etc... Believe me, history will repeat itself, as you say.
