Lawbreaking Senator Should Resign
By Brian Kirwin | Tuesday, October 14th, 2008 | PolicyIf a State Senator can’t follow state law, she shouldn’t continue writing them.
The (State Corporation) commission alleges (Sen. Louise) Lucas violated state security laws by failing to register her company with the agency before selling interests in the project to investors (Virginian-Pilot)
Sen. Lucas did not admit guilt, but agreed to a settlement in June to offer refunds to her investors.
Lucas said in a recent phone interview that she didn’t know she needed to register with the state
Well, if she didn’t know she needed to, and the law says she needs to, then whether Lucas admits it or not, she broke the law.
And she should do the honorable thing and step down, like many Democratic bloggers would insist if a Republican state senator did the same thing.

So Louise Lucas writes state laws, but doesn’t know how they read?
Have you ever seen the collection of books that make up the state laws?
Yes, Stephen, the Code of Virginia is about 20 volumes.
