Connolly campaigns in “Disneyland”…I mean…er…Fairfax!

So, Gerry Connolly, who was supposed to debate Keith Fimian this morning went off to a high-dollar San Francisco fundraiser with the woman whose ring he would love to kiss: Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
During the debate, Andrew Hurst, Connolly’s surrogate, compared the $430 million in-debt county that Connolly is supposedly Supervisor for to “Disneyland.”
Apparently the comparison was made because of the high cost involved to visit or live there?
“This is the pattern we see with Gerry Connolly. He sells out the people of Virginia in order to pocket some campaign cash. His priorities are wrong,” said Fimian. “I am not going to Congress to be a partisan rubber stamp for anyone the way Connolly would be for Pelosi. The fact that Gerry Connolly’s own campaign boasts that Fairfax County is like ‘Disneyland’ thanks to his ‘spending’ underscores the problem.”
Regardless, is this really the kind of Mickey Mouse or Goofy kind of representation that the 11th District needs?
We once asked Connolly to appear on BD’s podcast “Virginia Politics On-Demand” to discuss why he wants to run for congress, but he declined. I guess you could say we got Jiminy Cricket.
Here’s the Hurst statement:

Working at Disneyland as an executive means:
* No one is too important to pick up a piece of trash. Disney is impeccable;
* No child has ever been kidnapped from a Disney theme park. Disney is thorough and prepared.
* Disney responded well to a first impression of cultural insensitivity at EuroDisney and accepted the lessons learned to make it profitable. Disney is tolerant and flexible.
* Disney was brought in to train the staff at the Nationals baseball stadium, and if youo’ve been there you will see staff who will make you stop in your tracks with their professional courtesy.
Mickey Mouse will be 80 years old next month, and he and Disney are worth $30 Billion. Not only could they make a dent in the financial crisis with that worth, they might even be able to afford Tom and Jeannemarie Davis.
