Propaganda, as one might expect from this site. One can find Republicans that supported regulation, and one can find Democrats who resisted. The converse is also true. But the fact remains: The Republicans controlled both legislative bodies, and had the power of the presidency. Why didn’t they regulate if they wanted to? Answer: They didn’t want to. The cheap money flowing into the housing market was the only thing propping up a failing economy. Take away the housing boom, and the Republicans have nothing to show to the American people. No jobs, and no real income increases for regular people. Only an exploding deficit and an endless war.
