John McCain Is Still Right
By Jason Kenney | Tuesday, September 30th, 2008 | PoliticsBarack Obama agrees: the fundamentals of America’s economy are strong.
So not only was McCain right during the debate but he’s been right on the fundamentals of the economy, even though the Obama camp has been hammering him for daring to speak of American strength.
Weekly Standard has the transcript and some good points:
ANNCR: Who’s Barack Obama?
First, Obama attacked McCain.
Then said:
BARACK OBAMA: “We’ve got the long term fundamentals that will really make sure this economy grows.”
ANNCR: Strong fundamentals?
Is Obama saying McCain’s right?
Or is Obama saying his own attacks are shameless?
Either way, Obama’s a hypocrite.
JOHN MCCAIN: I’m John McCain and I approve this message.

Sorry, but no. Here is the actual quote, from which the quote used in the ad was severely edited. (I assume that you did not know this):
“And then after this immediate problem, we’ve got the long-term fundamentals that will really make sure this economy grows. Change means a tax code that doesn’t reward the lobbyists who wrote it but the American workers and small businesses that deserve it. As president I am going to eliminate capital gains taxes for small businesses and start-ups. That’s how we’ll grow our economy…”
As you can see, Obama was talking about his own economic plan, not our economy.
Do you think that this sort of deliberate distortion in a campaign ad is honorable?
McCain is right…
and a broken clock….
