Drake Receives Highest Honor from the Military Coalition
By Brian Kirwin | Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 | PoliticsFor “championing legislation to upgrade military pay raises, honor military spouses and survivors, and improve servicemembers’ retirement options,” Congresswoman Thelma Drake has received the Award of Merit from the Military Coalition, an influential consortium of 35 military and veterans groups.
It’s the highest award the group bestows.
Cited were Drake’s amendment mandating a guaranteed pay raise for servicemembers through 2013, and legislation Drake introduced would give servicemembers and civilian federal employees a Roth-style option for their Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) retirement package.
“I am honored to work to ensure a better quality of life for our military men and women and their families,” said Drake. “We cannot thank them enough for their service and their sacrifices.”
