The pictures behind all of the speakers were a total disaster. Once again, a green sxreen behind McCain during most of the beginning of his speech which was actually the grass from this picture. Amateur hour at the RNC - first the telepropmter breaks...twice! Then the bungling images. It seemed like a computer generated collection of random Google Images. The pictures made absolutely so sense. The picture above really did look like a mansion when viewed during the speech. I've seen high school pep rally slide shows better prepared and executed.

Mike, of course i would. The Virginia angle just makes it more fun :-).

I am serious though about how poorly such a mistake reflects on the RNC, and McCain by association.

Poor choice of picture regardless - I get what McCain was trying to do, but while I was watching the speech I thought it was a Newport, RI-type mansion. Seriously, I was wondering if it was one of his homes.

Oh get over yourself. Like you wouldn't be trying the same spin if they'd picked the Gloucester location.

I will concede though that the whole concept of the images behind the speaker could've used some work.

Walter Reed Army Medical Center is in DC. Riverside's Walter Reed Hospital is in Gloucester, VA. Make a little more sense now?

As for McCain, as the nominal head of his party now, yeah I'd blame him. As a military man he should understand all about accepting responsibility for your subordinates incompetence. And its not just the tech who made the mistake, its the line of boneheads who didn't bother to double check exactly what images they would put behind their presidential candidate while he was speaking to tens of millions of voters in what was likely his biggest pre-election speech and the capstone of their convention.

Seriously, thats not an honest mistake. Thats incompetence at a ludicrous number of levels.

Ah, so the tech crew puts up the wrong picture and it's McCain's fault. Nice.

But I bet that McCain could at least tell you that Walter Reed ISN'T IN VIRGINIA.

It's in D.C.
