Obama and Big Government – Reason style
By | Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 | Catch-All

OK, I admit it. I’m a closet Reason fan. Though obviously not a libertarian, I do find myself nodding my head subconsciously often enough while reading it.

At any rate, there was an interesting column there a couple days back on Obama and whether or not he’s the hard-core Big Government ideologue many conservatives paint him as.

But saying a Democrat believes in big government is like saying that Chicago winters are cold—true, but inadequate. Some winters are more bone-chilling than others, and some Democrats are worse than others. There are grounds for gloom with Obama, as there would be with anyone nominated by the party of FDR and LBJ. But there are some reasons to hope he will be less bad than most

Of course, i can already see BK’s new tagline:

Barack Obama – Less Bad Than Most

Nah, the Democrats have inspired me to write – Barack Obama – his mother was an unwed pregnant teen.

Will the real Barack Obama stand up? A lot of what Barach says scares me including his comment that he does not want his daughters to be punished with a baby.

He can try to paint himself as less bad than the rest, but when you make an off-cuff comment like this, you hang out with Rev. Wright, kickoff your campaign at a terrorist’s house, your best buddy is Oprah, you live in Chicago, you say gun owners have issues, etc., it is hard to believe he is anything but a Big Gov’t. guy.

Honestly, do you think a Big Gov’t. guy is going admit it?

Frankly, I don’t trust conservative candidates cos Washington has a way of moving everyone to the Left. If that is true with Obama, we are really in trouble.

The one exception to this rule was Clinton when there were actually Republicans in the Congress. And we all know soon Republicans will be an endangered species in the Congress.

But if Obama is elected, I truly hope and pray he is less bad than most.
