You just don’t understand. Women are not suited to lead, they are meant to stand BEHIND their man, just like my wife.
Take Hillary Clinton for example, the leadership of my party understands that the best way forward for America is for women understand that their role in life is to support THE MEN of our party, and not to confuse matters by thinking THEY are somehow “equal” to MEN – I mean, after all, I am “The One”! We all know this. Ask Oprah, for my sake!
For John McCain to insult the dignity of the office of the Presidency by placing a WOMAN within a heart beat of what is rightfully the role of a male is just another example of how low the Republicans are willing to stoop to hang onto their last remaining power. My friends – if this does not prove to all of you have dangerous and reckless Republicans truly are, nothing will.
I mean the woman has FIVE CHILDREN – FIVE of them! And not one of them is Hispanic! My me woman, haven’t you ever heard of abortion?!?
I know it is cold up in Alaska (well, I heard it was cold up there, I haven’t actually BEEN there – but as “The One”, I “know” these things by divine revelation); that is WHY it is so important for a DEMOCRAT to appoint our Supreme Court justices – so foolish and misguided women like this out-of-control breeder don’t populate our future voting pool with more misguided Republicans!

Did you hear me America? She has FIVE future Bush-neo con rug rats – one of them willingly going off to Iraq to inflict more heinous crimes and humanitarian rights violations upon the peaceful Muslim people, those good people of the Koran that as a child, willingly embraced ME as one their own!
Do you hear me America? She has FIVE neo cons … my “me”, it’s staggering to consider the consequences of such ignorant women in the age of free and easy abortion, er-um, I mean – in an age of a woman’s sacred right to choose!
Can you imagine the consequences if such a woman were to actually be allowed to gain access to the Oval Office?
I have to thank John McCain. You must recognize this as a divine gift for “The One”, his lunacy has revealed to all of you that the old are simply too feeble and cannot be trusted to make wise decisions that can adversely impact the future my destiny.
I am confident you will make the right decision this November. You need to confirm your faith and allegiance to “The One”. Cast your vote as a sign of your faithful worship to me.

60% of people who vote in a poll on a dKos diary (~17000) does not equal 60% of Democrats. And with the play that particular piece of garbage is getting in the political blogosphere (and the incendiary nature of it), who knows what the motivations are of the respondents. (Cue BK: I’m blaming this all on Rush Limbaugh).
If such polls were representative, we’d be seeing a Paul – Feingold contest right now most likely.

DKos has been over the top for a while. It’s the nature of “community” blogs that you can get some very good, quality writing and some very bad, extremist ranting. And Kos, for good or ill, attracts a lot of both.
I’m pretty hard on Sarah Palin and will continue to be, but I think her personal decision to have her Downs Syndrome child should be off limits. I’ve been privileged to know professional women who have juggled career demands with raising DS children, including women whose work has demanded frequent travel. They’ve handled it with grace, dignity and compassion. And responsibility for the care of their children. It also needs to be said that I know pro choice women who have made that decision to deliver a DS child too. The whole point of being pro choice is that you don’t impose your particular decision on others. Many women who don’t believe in outlawing abortion for others wouldn’t dream of having one themselves. So, criticizing Palin’s choice is a dumb tactic that displays incredible insenstivity.
What should be more important is that Palin is an unknown factor who has the least experience of any candidate for national office, which undercuts McCain’s argument about how important experience is. In addition, she is a social conservative and was chosen mostly to shore up the evangelical base.
Neither she nor McCain are mavericks, despite much of the media’s gushing attempts to label them as such. McCain, in 2000, when he stood up to the religious right and reached out to independents, did appear to be a true maverick within his party. This time he is running with the tried and true, and very successful, strategy of catering to his party’s evangelical wing. Whether it actually works with moderates and independents depends on whether the GOP can get them to focus on the compelling visual images of a young woman running for the VP spot, or whether the Democrats can get those independents to listen to what she really believes and stands for, which is more of the same policies that haven’t worked for eight years.
The campaigns come down to style versus substance. If Demcorats can focus on that rather than hyperbolic attacks on her personal choices or unsubstantiated rumors, they could win. If they give in to the urge to throw all the garbage at her and hope it sticks, regardless of whether it’s true or fair, they will lose.
Please, AIAW, tell me how the junior Senator from Illinois, who was elected to the U.S. Senate at the same time Palin was elected to an executive post, has more experience.
Not to mention Palin is not running against Obama. McCain is. So I guess since experience is so important to you, you will be voting McCain?
Nitpicking, but Obama started office in the Senate in Jan, 2005. Palin assumed the governorship in Dec, 2006, almost 2 years later. So its 3.5 years for Obama to 1.5 for Palin. Both are still peanuts though compared to the Senate careers of Biden and McCain, who i believe were both senior senators of their respective states before Obama or Palin even enetered politics.
That’s true. Biden has been in office so long he was able to vote aqainst the Alaska Oil Pipeline – 30 years and 50 BILLION barrels of oil ago. They guy was wronb back then on the oil pipeline and he’s wrong now on offshore drilling.
Well, Barack Obama had seven years in the Illinois State Senate and then three years in the U.S. Senate, where he has voted on issues of national defense, foreign policy and the national economy. There is a vast difference in serving at the state level in Illinois, with its large cities, diverse economy, and urban as well as rural problems as compared to being a mayor of Wasilla and then governor of a remote rural state with no major city.
In addition, Barack Obama graduated from Columbia University and Harvard Law School, as opposed to a couple of years at Hawaii Pacific College and North Idaho College. I realize that might sound terribly elitist but I think education matters. Obama has had a first rate education, is unquestionably intelligent, is urbane and well traveled.
Sarah Palin received her education at minor colleges, was mostly a small town girl with little experience. That doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be suited to rise to higher position and even to be vice president some day. Clearly, intelligence and life experience matter more than one’s alma mata.
But Palin is too young and inexperienced for that not to matter in a comparison with somebody also young and not as experienced. Of the two, I think he stacks up better in terms of preparation. Also, as recently as only a few months ago, she was on TV babbling that she wasn’t even sure what a VP does and wondering if it would be fruitful for Alaska.
I suspect Obama has a better grasp of what a president does and Biden will know on day one what a VP does and will know that it’s a bigger picture than what’s good for Delaware.

The woman has done a fantastic job as chief executive of both her town and state in the years that she has served. To the tune of an 80+% approval rating from the voters. I don’t care where you are, 80% is a great number.
I appreciate Democrats for at least being honest about insulting “fly over” country.
If I recollect, Reagan graduated from Eureka College and he won the Cold War. Bush graduated from Yale and Harvard too…how do you feel about the job he’s done?
Besides, Palin isn’t running for president. So, in eight years, she’ll have plenty of experience for the top job.
