Reagan’s speech to the 1964 Republican Convention
By | Wednesday, August 13th, 2008 | Politics

Posted for no particular reason, other than Reagan clearly articulates what is to be a Republican. What was said then still applies today:

Interesting how at around the 17-minute mark Reagan talks about a government program that gets wives for Kenyan government officials. Hey…how old is Obama again?

A lot of meat there, and a clear message. However, if thats “what it is to be a republican”, then the GOP has certainly strayed from some of the finer points.

    Concern for the national debt
    Balancing the budget
Warnings against “trading freedom for security”

    So very very true Jeremy!

Reganomics has been discredited over the past 30 years. It has been a costly, failed experiment.

If you do not believe that, ask yourself where have the supply-siders and monetarists gone. They are not in the Bush Administration, they were not in Bush I either. They are not in Europe, or anywhere on the globe.

Mostly, they are dead, and we are dealing with the damage caused by their failed policies.

where have the supply-siders and monetarists gone

Why they’re in and/or supporting the McCain campaign, of course!

    Phil Gramm
    Donald Luskin
    Martin Feldstein
    and even Arthur Laffer himself

Holtz-Eakin was a ray of light until he started having to toe-the-line.
