Reagan speaks to Obama
By Brian Kirwin | Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 | Catch-AllI was listening to Reagan’s farewell address to the nation, and it struck me. For all Obama’s rhetorical splendor, he’s always talking about himself, government or criticizing Americans who “cling to guns or religion. Reagan always spoke of America.
He seems to be speaking right to us in 2008 when he says “This national feeling is good, but it won’t count for much, and it won’t last unless it’s grounded in thoughtfulness and knowledge.” Modern translation: Before we say “yes we can,” we better know who we are and why.

Obama is not too different than Reagan. Both generally addressed all Americans – and at times criticized segments while appealing to their perspective bases. Moreover, neither have been overly precise about their plans – heck, that was Reagan’s criticism of Carter. Carter was too experienced, too smart, and too precise in his plans – “there he goes again…”
uh no.
“There you go again” was Reagan’s response to Carter’s lies, like when Carter said Reagan would end social security and medicare.
Ragnar, you don’t have the inalienable right to rewrite facts to fit your own narrow agenda.
Ditto, right back at ya.
