Hey Joe – This is Bobby Edwards from Theta Xi at Old Dominion 62-65. Remember, I was the House Proctor for the Fraternity. By the way, I have some photos from that period I would love to send you, if you can provide me with an e-mail address.

I still remember those practice wrestling sessions at Old Dominion, when you were trying to teach this ole novice some wrestling moves. And, I remember you telling me about your “Hot Shot” Brother down in Pensacola, John.

In 1967 I was in Intel Operations in Germany when John was shot down. I assure you there weren’t many days that I didn’t remember him and pray for him. While in Darmstadt Germany in 1968, I Volunteered for duty in Vietnam to Fly with the EC-47 ARDF Program, however I got assigned to Da Nang instead. At Da Nang, I Intercepted the Air Defense Headquarters of Hanoi / Haiphong in our Efforts to Provide Real Time Intel to the Pilots Flying North. At times, I tracked the whole Air War up North, and When Possible – Provided Position Reports of MIG’s or SAM Activations. I worked hard at providing those fellows with the best Intel we could give them.

With more than 70 Rocket Attacks, 1 Close Mortar, and the April 1969 Bomb Dump Explosion that Destroyed our Operations Center – I had an “Introduction” to Viet Nam. You can get a feel from some of my photos, if you visit my web site for photos. From my Viet Nam Experience, I am Humbled by the Sacrifice and Courage that John went through in his ordeal as a POW. I can tell, from your comments, that you love your Brother very much, and I knew that back in 1963 when you shared that very same love about John on those Wrestling Mats in the Old Dominion Gym.

Anxious to say Hello to You. I have just recently retired from a 35 year career in Sales and Marketing Management here in Virginia. I am an Administrator and Founder of a Web Site for AF Security Service from Darmstadt, Germany. We have over 1,400 members, and this coming April will attend our 4th Scheduled Reunion.

My Prayers are for John’s Success this Year, and If there’s anything I can do – Please let me know.

P.S. – I have an etching from Lt. Donald Miller’s name on the Wall. You know he was in our pledge class.

    Yours in the Bonds
