By | Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008 | Catch-All

It’s not the most glamorous group in the world, but it is one which might save you a buck or two.

According to a Bolling/McDonnell press release, “The [Infrastructure in Virginia] Working Group will review governmental rules and regulations regarding education and transportation construction infrastructure in order to increase efficiencies, reduce bureaucracy and mitigate adverse impacts on Virginia businesses and individuals.”

Meaning: save you money.

Today, Lieutenant Governor Bolling announced who the members of the group will be:

  • The Honorable George Barker – Virginia State Senate, 39th District
  • Dan Bell – Design-Build Project Manager, American Infrastructure
  • Tom Brock – Former VP of Systems and Services, General Electric
  • Charles King – VP for Administration and Finance, James Madison University
  • The Honorable Robert Lazaro – Mayor, Town of Purcellville
  • The Honorable Manoli Loupassi – Virginia House of Delegates, 68th District
  • The Honorable Ryan McDougle – Virginia State Senate, 4th District
  • The Honorable Dianne Pettitt – Chesterfield County School Board, Clover Hill District
  • Dwight Shelton – VP of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Virginia Tech
  • David Shuford – VP of State Regulations, Dominion Power
  • The Honorable John Stirrup – Prince William County Board of Supervisors, Gainesville District
  • Mike Thompson – Chairman and President, Thomas Jefferson Institute
  • Richard Walton – Chief of Policy and Environment, Virginia Department of Transportation
  • Andrea Warfield – Executive Vice President, VMS Inc.
  • A.D. Whittaker – President, A.D. Whittaker Construction

“Bill Bolling has assembled a team of committed and experienced leaders to take on the critical challenge of reducing unnecessary regulatory burdens and ensuring infrastructure is built in Virginia on-time and on-budget,” said Attorney General Bob McDonnell, co-chair with Bolling on the Government and Regulatory Reform Task Force that McDonnell created. “Bill understands the crucial need for this comprehensive review and is committed to saving tax dollars, increasing innovation and prioritization in our government and eliminating duplicative, unnecessary and outdated regulations.”

The IVWG will meet for the first time next Tuesday at 10 a.m. in House Room 1 of the State Capitol Building, where the meeting is open to the public and its participation.
