Deeds camp to Moran camp: “No Consultant Left Behind”

Tim Craig’s post in “Virginia Politics” on the money-race between Del. Brian Moran and Sen. Creigh Deeds for their run for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination is awesome.

Apparently, Deeds’ staff is a bit underpaid and the crankiness is beginning to show.

“I guess it’s the Moran economic stimulus plan – no consultant is left behind,” [Peter] Jackson, [Deeds spokesman], said.

But the true dispute arrives because of the inconsistency with which Moran made payroll. Choosing to roll June’s payroll to July so that it would appear that he had more money banked this past reporting quarter.

“Either they have the guys from Enron to ‘cook the books’ or they are spending money so fast they can’t keep track of how quickly it is going out the door,” Jackson said of Moran’s campaign.

To which Jesse Ferguson, Moran’s spokesman offered his retort that Deeds did the same thing by only paying his staff once last month, as opposed to the normal bi-monthly paycheck.

The next ten months are going to be so fun. And Peter Jackson and Jesse Ferguson are not going to disappoint. Let the games begin!
