1776 to be performed at the Little Theater of Virginia Beach; Kirwin in the production

Brian Kirwin, Bearing Drift contributor, will be playing “McNair”, a snide, long-haired, disgruntled Philadelphian (no type-casting here!) who was the steward for the Continental Congress during the lead-up to the Declaration of Independence, in the upcoming Little Theater of Virginia Beach production of “1776.”
Opening night is July 18. 8 p.m.

Just about my favorite movie ever despite the fact the writers took certain, uh, “liberties” with historical facts.
William Daniels IS John Adams.
Re: Edmund Rutledge of South Carolina threatening to vote against the Declaration if the clause condemning slavery isn’t taken out:
Jefferson: What else is there to do?
Adams: Well man, you’re the one who wrote it.
Jefferson: I wrote ALL of it, Mr. Adams.
After Jefferson crosses the offending clause Adams takes the Declaration and slams it on Rutledge’s desk. “There you go Rutledge, you have your slavery for what good it will do you. No VOTE damn you!”
Oops, Adams says “NOW VOTE….”
I’ll see if I can make it since I’ll be in town then.
Brian,
Best wishes on the play!
Thanks! Opening night can’t come soon enough!
It’s been great to work with Brian on the cast. He really throws a lot into his character, which otherwise could be forgettable. I’ve also appreciated his input in playing Richard Henry Lee. Come see this show! You WON’T regret it.
Brian rocks as McNair!!! So ruled!
John Hancock.
Let me just say, as stage manager of this fine production, that Brian put a lot of himself into this annoying, whiny, complaining, agitating character.
